Poor Timing By the Des Moines Register...

It might just be me, but does anyone here agree that the DSM Register's running of the Chris Street article was poorly timed? Everyone that remembers watching Chris Street play knows what kind of BB player he was, but seeing as Iowa State is honoring Barry Stevens tonight, couldn't the DSM Register have waited to run the Chris Street Story tomorrow?

What are your thoughts?

Not sure what the problem is, it seems pretty timely since Lusk did play at Iowa with Street.

I really liked Paul Lusk - I remember watching the game in which he got hurt - was nasty.

Since Lusk has been at Purdue since 2004, you would think they would have run this story several years ago. This can't be the first time he has returned to Iowa.

I'm guessing that the idea for the story was triggered by the events relating to Barry Stevens. I wouldn't interpret it as something nefarious. You need to remember the writers at the Register aren't the most creative group.

There's a storm brewin', and it's named Cyclone Gene.

I would guess since the death is almost to the day 15 years ago and lusk was a teammate the story has traction.

Street was a bigger story in the state since he died when he was still on the team and the fact he was from Indianola

I'll never forget that morning I opened the Waterloo Courier and found out he died. Just one of those,"where were you when...." moments that I won't forget.

Wasn't it 15 years ago today? I think that's why they were running the stuff...

Went to high school with Chris. You'd be hard pressed to find a better person. It was strange to watch a community mourn like Indianola did. I always thought it was classy for Iowa State to wear his #40. Haven't paid attention lately. Do they still do this?
