Credits: 497,308 | Has recruiting well run dry for Hawks? Interesting to see latest recruits for Iowa. They are competiting with UNI for Jake Reisen 6-2 lb (who has yet to commit) and were the only school to offer Adam Robinson 5-9 running back. Both are players from the state of Iowa. Looks very similar to Dan McCarney's recruiting in his later years at Iowa State. This is not to say these players won't deliver, just an observation.

They also got that QB from southern Iowa, I think because he won a state football title and people were talking about him. | I'm not an expert on sports, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night |

The Illinois well may be dry, but I think after the past 3 seasons, for Iowa to pull in a top 50 class is pretty impressive. The class is ranked higher than the team has been. | ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds. |

It'll be interesting to see how Kirk's last three years worth of recruits do this year and next, since most of them will have had a few years to develop. If they do well, this could be Kirk's only down year recruiting wise. We'll just have to wait and see.
Meanwhile, I'm more concerned with our own recruiting class right now. One more decommit would not be good.

Looking at the entire class, it seems like an average Iowa class. The team ranking will probably be in the 40s or 50s, which (with the exception being the 2005 class) is probably the norm for Iowa. And BTW, I think Iowa really likes Adam Robinson (the Lincoln guy) at CB, which could be the reason why we picked him up. We're probably set with quite a few guys at RB, so I doubt he'll see much playing time there. Also, that QB from southern Iowa is James Vandenburg out of Keokuk. Looks like a good throwing QB from what I've seen.
EDIT -- And by "set" at RB, I mean we have quite a few commits, and could possibly have one more soon. Inexperience will definitely be a factor.

I'm not worried about Iowa States class. The boards are not having an easy time keeping up with the names. We won't know some of them until signing day. Not to worry.

Those banana peel jerseys are ugly (all Iowa fans seem to agree on that one), and I'm not much of a jersey-wearer, so I'll pass on the gold one too. But thanks for asking.

Actually SoHawk is a good guy...eventually he will come over from the dark side. As for Iowa, their recruiting does look like DMs to me. They are filling squares instead of really working to find the size and speed guys that they need. Look at their average size the last three years, it's not very big. Chizik is getting guys that the top schools want to steal. That speaks volumes of what we are after.

To say they aren't getting size and speed is nuts. Their OL's are around 300 and they do have some fast WR, the problem with that is they don't have anyone to get them the ball and if JC does they probably won't catch it, but they do have size and speed.
