The Iowa football players are under more scrutiny than most colleges because there is no pro team.
The arrest of another football player in his dorm for intoxication makes me think the University police are out of control.

Well with the unbelievable lack of media attention to all of the crap that has gone on, I'm surprised anybody would believe anything has happened in Iowa City I'm more upset at the lack of Register coverage than I've ever been when it comes to these types of things. As others have stated, if this had been Iowa State, Chizik and JP would have been gone long ago and the media would never let it rest. As it is, we barely hear a peep about it and no investigations have taken place. It's just disgusting to think that the Register calls themselves a "news" outlet.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. |

Here's a few goodies from Squakeye Nation:
"Ferentz doesn't have enough time to decipher a player's character and evaluate as a football player"
"It's more a reference to the activities on a college campus and the peer pressures that go with it"
"Kids are kids"
"There are arrests everywhere"
"This is not a Coaching staff problem ; it's a Cultural problem. You can't kick God out of the Public Schools, then teach kids that the Word of God is a lie, telling them that they were NOT, in fact "created in His image" and then hold any sort of realistic hope that things might go well. Teaching children that they are simply descendents of monkeys has a very high price:Some may actually believe the nonsense, which in turn leads to a highly predictable outcome; those who've been duped begin to act like the very monkeys they allegedly descended from."
"Its all hip hop music, the kind that says crap about smokin pot and raping women. That stuff is ruining this generation. It has to go, or this same stuff will always go on."
"These amateurs just need to learn how to not get caught"

LMAO, wow, if I actually heard one of those from a hawk to my face, I would simply laugh out loud as hard as I can and never stop until they had walked out of hearing distance.

I like the Jason Berryman reply, Iowa fans go with the "Thank You For Smoking" approach, "I don't have prove I'm right I just have to make you look wrong."

Ooooh, my personal favorite is: It's not the Football Player. It's another guy with the same last name, first name, address, hometown, social security number, mother, DNA makeup, etc, etc, etc.... Just a simple case of mistaken identity!
And to think that a certain poster has used THAT excuse on THIS board TWICE!!! and still expects us to respect him in the morning....

"Look around the country fellas. It's not just Iowa where this stuff happens you just think it is. Have you guys been around college athletes before? I would say that it's in the 30-40% range that smoke weed."
"The problem is that Iowa City is small and the cops are looking for it. I guess we could just recruit Iowa and Nebraska kids but then they would get caught cow tipping or smoking ditch weed. Either way we lose."

My favorite is from the Captain Himself...this is precious!
"I'm hoping that our players will be beyond reproach, and that's the way we're going to have to be from now on," Ferentz said last August. "This is a little bit like 2002 - we've gone through a period of activ | |
