The big question is what made the police go to that dorm room? Police just dont walk up and down halls AND People with weed just down leave their door open for everyone to see.

Well if you listened to Cotlar yammering on and on today (and God help you if you did) he says in no uncertain terms that NONE of this is Kirkie's fault and that you can't blame him for anything.

They were playing their music at a very high level and received complaints. A very smart thing to do when you have all kinds of drugs in your room.

Now listen. These are young kids that are gonna make some mistakes. Don't go being too judgmental on them. That's not fair to the athletes.

Ah! Smart kids...my guess is they were letting loose after a very stressful week of serious class work. If they really wanted to I bet they could have Cleveland could have been charged with intent to deliver.

Even if they were playing music at a high level...since when do cops show up in dorms for loud music? My door was knocked on many many times for this by a RA...but the cops? There has to be something more to the story than just loud music...that is the norm in dorms.

You're right. EVERY arrest of a football player in Iowa City is the part of some kind of conspiracy. The cops are out to get these kids. AND the only thing that these kids did wrong was get caught.

I am not saying these kids were sought out due to being athletes! I was thinking more along the lines of the cops suspecting or having knowledge of these activities and waiting for a reason to go after them. The loud music might have been the reason the cops knocked on the door or came to the dormroom but I find it hard to believe that is the only reason! Has to be a lot more to the story than just loud music.

Not only that, but one the guys who was charged with CC fraud got REINSTATED.

I guess it's ok to steal money from someone or endanger lives behind the wheel, but for god's sake, whatever you do, don't get caught peeing in public!!

How am I supposed to think outside the box when I work in a cube?

He had his weed sitting out in plain sight. I know quite a few RA's that would call the cops if they saw something like that sitting out on a desk.

Still, the one that bugs ME the most is the unacknowledged rape case: It APPEARS that a rape occurred, and it APPEARS that two football players may have been involved, but it APPEARS to be going nowhere.

People have constitutional rights and all, but they don't have a constitutional right to play football or to receive scholarship money. And the APPEARANCE of being a rapist should be enough to get your butt kicked off a football team and your scholarship revoked.

From a thread on another site:

From a thread on the other site, their RA called UI Police because there was loud music and the smell of weed coming from their room. Maybe the RA has had some bad experience trying to handle these guys himself. Of course on my floor many years ago, the RA was the biggest head on the floor.

That makes sense then...I could see that happening. I would think some of those RAs could be intimidated by athletes in those situations.

Yeah, I didn't really get his point. He was saying how you can't blame the head coach for these kids being stupid and then later on he said that the head coach has to take responsibility at some point. Just the usual blabbering that we have grown accustomed to from the "Cot-Man". I was just happy to hear something aside from Drake-talk for once.

Oh don't worry, they talked Drake for most of the morning prior to that topic.
