I wouldn't say that board is in meltdown. From what I could see most don't think they are being targeted only a couple of morons seem to think that. Most feel they (the football players) are bringing these problems on themselves and they are correct.

Nebraska had a bad run several years back outside bars, some gun incidents, some big fights, some dragging women down the stairs, etc. Of course they played real well on the field. TO at his best handled the situation. TO was voted best coach of all time, but he did have his share of misery.

I saw some fellow from IC on the news this morning saying that Iowa is being targeted because of their "higher standards", laughable to say the least. Apparently he wasn't around for P. Pierce.

That's why it's best not to rip someone for their grammer on the interwebs - you will eventually be guilty of the same thing. These interwebs are serious buiness you know...

The question to ask is if the number of minor violations in general has also risen. More and more college towns are cracking down on these things and I think that's the reason.

When I look at the facebook pictures of Iowa football players I can't imagine how ol' Hayden Fry would have related to them at all. It'd be fun to see his reaction if one of those brainiacs would have walked into his office dressed like that though.

Nebraska got back on track when the players themselves decided that they had reached the limit of acceptable behavior. There were some players only meeting where the team leaders made it clear that future offenders would face the wrath of their teammates. This approach worked and is the best way to control behavior. I don't see much evidence of anything like this happening in Iowa City.

I agree that Iowa players are being targeted. The police tend to target people who break the law.

The alcohol offenses are always high in downtown IC. You just don't go down there and jack around after midnight. It doesn't take long to figure that out. The assault that has been swept under the rug, one could argue that the players were protected. The Bowman, Douglas incident is hardly targeting unless you consider arresting thieves targeting. This latest thing there had to be someone that tipped the campus cops. Once again, hardly targeting. The IC Police are not staging raids on players dorms so far as I can tell. The other thing to keep in mind here is that there is no merit in defending the accused with accusations of targeting when to date they have all been guilty.
