I must have missed the part where I said ISU would be taking a bunch of people to Tampa had we ended up there.

I'm happy for Drake. If this was a year that ISU was good I may be sick of all the talk but at this point the less I hear about ISU the better.

They are great kids who have done it the right way. I hope we are talking about Drake three weeks from now.

They probably are great kids, but that doesn't mean I have to care how they do.

Smaller conferences have been getting the shaft more and more lately. The number of midmajor teams getting at-large bids has been shrinking, partially because the power conferences are bigger and have more sway than they used to in order to get their mediocre teams in. They also seem to put together a lot more midmajor matchups in the first two rounds, like Drake-WKU. Out of 34 at large bids, six mid majors.

That would be a surprise.

I don't know about anyone else, but there is only so much I can hear about what round Tuba Rubin is going to be drafted in and by the regular "Cops" episodes that are provided by the Hawkeye football team. The truth is that there isn't a better sports story in this state than the Drake basketball team and there may not be a better story in the nation for the time being. We should enjoy seeing a good program do well and maybe the powers that be at ISU and Iowa should take a look at how they are doing it.
I admit to being a proud Drake alum who is enjoying the fifteen minutes of fame that the Bulldogs are getting. I have a hard time imagining that most people can't sit back and enjoy this for a few more days as well.

Calling someone an idiot because they are tired of hearing about Drake because they are on the radio, TV, and newspaper ALL DAY LONG is BS. Let people support/not support Drake as they please. No one needs you telling them who to root for.
Drake is like a good song on the radio...you love hearing it at first but the radio station plays it to death and eventually you just turn it off when it comes on.

I'm happy for Drake and their fans, but they could go out the first game and I wouldn't care. They could go to the final four and I wouldn't care. It's Drake.
I just turn the channel when people start talking about them on the radio. It's not that hard to do. I am actually happy for them that they are having this great year when ISU and Iowa suck, so they are the only story. It has to be very exciting for them.

Drake has a nice little team but those of you that think they are a lock to beat WKU had better think twice. I picked Drake to win game one against WKU but I would not be surprised at all to see WKU beat them. Even if Drake wins that one, the end comes in game two for certain. The MVC is just not that good.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

You're all right. I'll enjoy watching a team full of true student athletes play in the NCAA tournament and you all can enjoy whatever passes for sports news in this area while Drake makes their run.
As a casual Iowa State fan who has lurked on this site for a while, I have politely enjoyed watching the discussions of a less than mediocre football team and a barely mediocre men's basketball team. I stand by the statement that you would have to be less than a true sports fan if you can't enjoy watching the Drake story. If there was an Iowa State story worth telling in the next year I would hope that fans throughout Iowa would enjoy it. I'll look forward to seeing if an Iowa State story worth caring about emerges any time soon.
I agree that if you don't care to hear about a truly great story from Central Iowa you shouldn't have to do it. Enjoy the tournament!

I guess I'll have to go through life with the knowledge that I'm not a true sports fan then. Somehow I think I'll carry on.
