What I enjoy most about this Drake run...is how upset it makes some people that Drake could be doing so well. Conversely, I'm also rather amused by the "you're not a true fan if you don't enjoy the Drake story" contingent. Good stuff!
Here's to this continuing for another week or two.

Two things:
(1) Why anyone thinks we are obliged to root for Drake when most of us have no allegiance to them and they have been a thorn in our sides for the past 12 years is beyond me (I think we're 7-5 against Drake in that time). Yes, they are from the state of Iowa. So what. So is Iowa.
(2) Google doesn't think much of Drake...

One thing I always liked about Drake was Peggy's...is that watering hole still open?

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

For the record, I think the ISU women overcoming all of their injuries, playing in the toughest conference in the country, and still earning a trip to the big dance to be a great story. The Iowa women coming back from years of disappointment under Bluder to get a conference championship is a great story. The difference is that the local media isn't ramming those stories down people's throats.

If we rec'd more coverage on either of those stories, it would be "ramming" because the majority of sports fans don't care a great deal about women's sports. Don't get "us" wrong, we wish success for the women's programs, but at the end of the day it still feels like a female version of minor league sports to a lot of sport's fans.

I'd say attendance was great for how bad the team was. I'm still getting a kick out of everyone having to throw ISU comparisons in my face. We're talking about Drake here, not ISU.
Oh yeah, and count me in the "not a true sports fan" category. I'm devastated.
