He may have been homesick, but you don't plan for a starting running back who's been waiting to play to go home. |

You got me. I guess my expectations of him leaving must make me psychic.
I saw his name on the depth chart, and for 1 week I thought something had changed. But he's been very iffy for about 4 months now. In fact, the biggest selling point that Guillory cited for signing with Iowa was that KF had mentioned Pugh was no longer with the team.
But yeah, psychic. | ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds. |

He's probably been iffy because he had to witness the great EIU fanbase BOO his senior teammates off the field their last home game. He probably wants to go somewhere where he is appreciated, not sold out the minute he hits the starting lineup as running back and his backup is the next Heisman candidate.....
Or is that just the QB position???? | Colorado coach Gary Barnett "I thought we had a pretty good mascot, but when we showed up at Iowa State, they had a real tornado. That's the real deal." November 12, 2005 |

There's no excusing the actions of a very loud minority of the fan base. Those are probably the same fans that booed Kyle McCann in 2001. I want to punch them. | ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds. |

Add to that all the fans that left early, and the games were embarassing for the players. To underplay how bad it was it not being honest with the facts.

Because I've spoken with a lot of people who were at the game, and it was a small minority, but a loud minority. 1,000 people booing sounds like a lot.
And why wouldn't the fans leave early? Trailing WMU by 11 at home is a good reason to say goodbye. I've seen certain fan bases leave much earlier at similar deficits. | ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds. |

There, I have changed it to reflect one of the many SoHa standard spins on a negative at Iowa.
We've stunk the joint up a couple times at Jack Trice, but other then a couple of drunk wannabee coach's in the stands, I have never, never heard the booing like that was coming through my TV speakers the day I enjoyed(I mean watched) Iowa get taken to the woodshed by W Michigan at Quinnik stadium.
And especially on Senior day it goes much above Wins or Losses. It goes about showing appreciation for Senior players who have busted their humps to make a ridiculous fan base happy. These guys did not deserve that crap. I work with someone who was at that game and he said the sounds were coming all over the stadium and in his words "They deserved it because they sucked."
That, with or without all your typical spinning tells me all I need to know about EIU. | Colorado coach Gary Barnett "I thought we had a pretty good mascot, but when we showed up at Iowa State, they had a real tornado. That's the real deal." November 12, 2005 |

If the hawk fans were to do something similar to Jack Trice, we would all be up in arms, and wouldn't stand for it.
I realize that this was probably not directly aimed at Nile Kinnick himself, there may be better ways of having our fun with "little brother".

Ya, you guys are right. This was against the hawks but not intended at all to be against Nile Kinnick. Poor taste on my part and funny I never thougth of it that way. Seriously though, I actually wasn't. Minnesota fans come to mind. Colorado, Nebraska, and especially UM fans. I've seen ISU fans leave early, but clearing out a 100,000 seat stadium is impressive. | ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds. |

Our best friends son is a four year starter for Iowa. We heard first hand how hard it was on the players AND parents. No I wasn't there, but when you get calls from parents who are in tears from the fans booing after the games, you pretty much take it as fact.
