At the very least, I'm sure he'll guarantee that this has nothing to do with the Regents.
(for the record, I don't think it does, just figured he might try the pre-emptive strike ) |

I contend that without that pressure, most of the players who have left would still be with the team. And I notice the lid is shut tight on the assault investigation. Johnson County authorities are no longer po po ing the issue. The report from the Regent investigators and others will be interesting.

I thought that whole thing was resolved a long time ago. Pugh is on the team, Ferentz has commented on it unless something changed in the last few weeks. |

He wanted to agrue that ISU has had as many convicted fellons as Iowa has had over the past 5 years. I'm made a compromise in that not all the cases within Iowa City have gone as public and been "convicted" the the Douglas credit card issue, but that doesn't mean that 12 or so players haven't had to be dealt with versus maybe the 3 or so ISU players in Football and Basketball combined.
I like the guy, a good friend, but this was just proof of how self absorbed these Hawk fans get. And then to call out ISU on the same thing is rediculous.

As far as I can recall both schools have one convicted felon in the past five years -- Pierre Pierce for Iowa and Jason Berryman for ISU. Iowa has had a lot more athletes charged with felonies, but I believe all of them except Pierce were able to make deals where they pled guilty in exchange for having the charges reduced from felonies to misdemeanors. Of course James Cleveland still has felony drug charges pending so that tally might change. |

And also, Bryce makes a valid point. Pugh was "supposedly" never even questioned about this rape case, and the rumors were started by the Register being the good 'ole Register and questioning students who used hearsay to tell their story.
But it's cool, might as well ruin his life. He's just a football player.

Actually, I just did a little searching, and found nothing in KF's presser that says he's off the team. Ferentz does mention that he won't be with the team for spring ball, but as of now, unless it's premium information (which I doubt), Pugh will be making a return this fall.
It sounds like grades more than anything.

I'll tell you what, I'm a hawk hater with the best of them, but if this story is true and the DMRag labeled somebody who is innocent as a rapist, that is wrong in every sense of the word. If he in fact had nothing to do with the assault, I hope he finds a good lawyer. Incorrectly being labeled a sex offender will mess with the rest of his life...
