I am sure as we get closer to August they will be BIG10 champ contenders and BCS bowl bound before a snap is snapped. Seemed pretty realistic as of right now though.
We have a kid that just started working for us who is a fresh EIU grad and according to him this Shon Greene will be the next coming of LT at running back if he can get his academics in order. We'll see
It seems strange to read a hawk article where Iowa State is mentioned twice and in a respectful way. Usually there is a slam thrown in there to inflate their ego's.

Oh I get it. You guys still think all Iowa fans are homeristic morons.
And yes, I do realize that "homeristic" is not a word. |

After all, Western Michigan is off the schedule this year. And yes, I do realize that "homeristic" is not a word. Uhhhh, you guys prove it every year. Last year most of your fans picked your team to go most likely 9-3, a good chance of 10-2, and with such an easy schedule, 11-1 wasn't out of the realm of possibility. Jon Miller's show was talk of this all summer and early Fall until you got beat by ISU. Finally then reality set in for some of you.
I have a neighbor who talks all the time about how Iowa's schedule is easier this year then last and is already talking 9-3 crap again. The way you handled last years easy schedule, noone has any clout to talk that stuff again.
Homeristic might not be a word but it fits. Reality isn't a real big personality trait in eastern Iowa.

Right, just FWIW, I bet I can find at least 3 threads from this board where people were saying a 10 win season is possible, expecting road wins at Iowa and KSU, and saying a Big 12 Title game trip within the next 3 years.
I don't think Iowa fans are any more "homeristic" than ISU fans.

And every QB they think will be a heisman candidate for them, drew tate and jake christensen? really? I don't think I heard any Iowa State fans dumb enough to say Bret Meyer was gonna be in the heisman hunt. Overall, we are just more realistic. Once we do have bowl game and big 12 championship game success, then I am sure our heads will be more inclined to be in the clouds like hawkeyes, but until then, we are the realists. Not that I wouldn't mind going to KC or Houston and BCS bowl games and drinking that cardinal and gold koolaid double fist style baby!

This is also your opinion, and that's cool.
I'm just stating a fact. Iowa has had higher expectations over the past 8 years for good reason. Four straight January Bowls, 3 straight 10 win seasons, and 2 Big Ten Championships in 3 years gave Hawkeye fans big reason to hope big. I don't think it's being idiotic to expect big things based on the recent past.
That being said, I think you will be hard pressed to find any Iowa fan this year expecting to do anything special, and if you do find them, they will be similar in numbers to those ISU fans who were/are hoping for a 10 win season this year.
Look at it this way. Remember when ISU was winning Big 12 championships in basketball, and really making serious runs in the NCAA Tournament? That built up high expectations in Cyclone country, where every year was a Tourney year, and every year was a competition for the B-12 Title.
The past few years have been the same for Iowa fans and their football. Now that it's been 4 years removed from the last Big Ten Title, you aren't hearing the BCS predictions nearly as much.

Actually, i most enjoyed the last line because this fly's in the face of comments that Hawkeye Fans have been retorting with for years.... It'll be hard for this Iowa team to win at Pittsburgh in the fourth game, which makes defeating Iowa State the week before more important than usual.
Does that almost put the IOWA ST game as extremely important on their schedule....But all we ever hear is that its our super bowl.....well guess what iowa, had your sorry arrest riddled team gotten up and beat ISU last year, you would have been bowling instead of picking up the Iowa City police blotter to get team news.....
One point i had to disagree with his article - If i were a Hawkeye fan, and we didnt have anyone that could beat out Shada, you think this year will be an improvement....sorry but that guy flat out stunk and if the guy backing him up is now the starter...watch out for some big catches by Hamilton and Franklin.....
