Maybe its more of the fact that they are proud about it.

My dads only regret was not taking on his dads name for season tix. He bought 8 every year JTS was open until 1985.

The teams refuse to allow tickets to be handed off to blood relatives w/o penalty (losing prime seats, starting over w/ donation levels, etc.), so fans one-up them by going through the loophole.
And face it--as long as the university/pro team gets their money, they won't waste the time to make people stop. |

So if 10,000 families want to own all the tickets to Iowa football for all of eternity, thats ok as long as your one of those 10,000 families huh?
What about the people that helped "fund" JTS that got 50 yardline tix forever but now have to donate? I believe they finally have to donate again to keep their tickets.

Packers fans are also known for putting their child's name on the waiting list for tickets the day that they're born because that's how hard it is to acquire new season tickets. According to their website, the current waiting list is 57000 names long with an average wait of 30 years.
I can't think of another team that would be able to "sniff their jock" in this regard. |

From what I've read, many fans do indeed put their children, sometimes at birth, on the waiting list, in hope that some day those children will be eligible. I've heard rumors, or maybe stories, that the waiting list position is passed along in wills, as well. Not sure how true that is.
I signed up for the waiting list (hey, it's the cool thing to do ) a few years ago. In 2005, I received the yearly postcard stating that I was 68000-something or other. This past year (2007), I was in the 64000s. I'm feeling kind of panicked about coming up with the money for season tickets in the next "few" years ... Or not.
