Don't be ashamed, balken. Back when I lived there, Cotlar used to talk on and on about "his" Missouri Tigers.

One time, a guest mistakenly assumed that Cotlar attended the Columbia School of Journalism, because the "Cot-Man" said something about going to Columbia for journalism school. Columbia MISSOURI, that is.... Just a little bitty difference.

I didnt hear all of it, but he talked about how much talent was on the team his freshman year and how much the upperclassmen helped him. He also talked about what he has been doing the past year and what he needs to do to get to the NBA.

I'm not an expert on sports, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night

If I was the national guy I'd say something like "Well they had a great season but got upset in the tournament in a game they were supposed to win."

But hey Larry can interview with the best of them....

So, what did Stinson think of the Drake game?

I have no beef with him and I'm the last person that will be overly critical of media people. I just don't understand why every topic of every conversation with every guest has to be Drake?

Because they are the ONLY sports topic he has ANY idea about. How anyone can be as clueless as him when it comes to the world of sports AND have sports talk show is beyond me.

And, let's be honest. The guy just isn't very smart.

What do Cyclone fans and Hawkeye fans have in common?
Neither one ever attended the University of Iowa.

Excellent point. You could count how many times he says "I'm not sure...Geoff do you know?" I bet people are just yelling at their radio because its probably something 90% of sports fans know.

To be fair, the last few months it was pretty much the only local sports topic worth talking about. He still gave time to the ISU and Iowa coaches, as well as other local sports people. I doubt any of the national people even knew how Iowa and ISU were doing because they were a non story all year. I would rather hear about Drake all day long rather then listening to Wrestling breakdowns...

You're correct. If it helps, I'll share the embarassment.

Actually, Mizzou has a pretty good journalism school. But yeah, there's definitely a difference between Columbia and the school in Columbia, MO.

I second this. I stopped listening to 1460 the minute Des Moines got ESPN the radio.

He'll continue to talk about "the game" until August, when the preferred topic will change to dissecting Drake football.

I'd be surprised if he does that. He might focus his attention on Drake FB a little more than he would have last year, but he has no direct interest in the football team like he does basketball. (Unless he does play-by-play for FB and I'm not aware of it.)
