Stoops is gone after this year if they don't win. Didn't they beat ASU in the final game of the season, basically saving his job after last season?
Kinda similar to Walden.

Sadly, that beeper would go off quite a bit

That's a very realistic appraisal of the situation, IMO. I don't think, if Iowa loses 5 Big 10 games in a row, that they are going to pull out Ws against Purdue and Minnesota (who just had a HUGE class full of quality Jucos, and will have had a year to gel, and would love to go out of the season on a winning note) though. I mean Iowa couldn't get it done against Western Freaking Michigan with a bowl game on the line.
I think there's no doubt if he goes 6-6 or worse, that he's on the hot seat for sure next year. Fewer than 6 wins, and I think Iowa seriously looks at getting out of the contract. Will they do it? I find it unlikely, especially with a spineless AD at the helm, but it's certainly a possibility.
Then the question would become, who are they going to get that's any better? And would ISU hire him as the o-line coach?

That being said, we all expect improvement out of him this year, and if he doesn't provide SOME level (even just one win), I think there will be a lot of disgruntled fans, especially considering expectations. Who would have thought Mac was on the hotseat going into his last season? But Chiz is in a sort of similar situation this year, at least in terms of needing to deliver on reasonable expectations.
I don't think there is ANY way he's gone this year, or even next, regardless of what happens, but he's certainly got some work to do.

Amazing to see Gary Pinkel's name at the bottom of that list. He had to be near the top going into last season.
