I didn't say they're insignificant. I said I don't think that sports nobody cares to pay attention to should count towards this trophy. I think more people would care about the Cy-Hawk series if it included the sports that people care to watch.

I don't believe I'm the only one who feels this way.

It is a sport that the two schools complete with each other in, it is included. Seems pretty simple to me.

The Cy-Hawk series should be all events or not at all. If someone wanted to sponsor a Big 3 series (or include WBB for Big 4, etc) - fine by me. But this is the Cy-Hawk series, not the "Cy-Hawk series except the sports no one goes to".

The events could be weighted with the formula (attendance)X(points assigned for an event win), but then no one would ever get anything for winning in Carver Hawkeye, as anything times zero is zero.

How am I dancing around words here? It's my opinion that I don't think the lesser-known sports should count in the series. You don't have to agree, that's fine.

But my opinion is pretty simple. I don't think the series needs to include every sport.

I understand about having an opinion (see non-smoking threads... *sigh), but when you say "NOBODY cares to pay attention" you are trying to mix fact and opinion... where the fact is false.

If I meant that I thought a sport was insignificant, I'd say it. As a former swimmer and soccer player, I'm well aware of how little peope care to watch those sports. I did them and competed in them because it was something I loved to do.

And, to answer your question, if Sport A is not attended enough, that means the fans don't pay enough attention for Sport A to be included in Series A.

Let's include the ice hockey games, as well as the club baseball games as well. I mean, there's student athletes participating in those, and just because they're "club" status shouldn't mean they are neglected by the all-important Cy-Hawk series. I mean, we wouldn't want them to feel like they are insignificant.

It just seems silly to me to have a trophy given to the school with the most wins in sports that people otherwise don't pay attention to. Right now, if a school wins three out of the four "Big revenue sports", but lose all of the "no revenue sports", they'll still lose out on the series.
