They don't mention the academic part in this. I am curious to know how that t works and the result. If it is even part of it.
Iowa won women's cross country, wrestling, softball and one of two women's gymnastics competitions.
Iowa State won men's golf, volleyball, football, men's cross country, women's basketball, women's swimming, men's basketball and the other women's gymnastics competition. The two schools tied in women's soccer.

They would have won the legal competition, in which the tiebreaker tests who can name the Miranda rights first and fastest.

It would be completely unfair and a slap-in-the-face of those student athletes to not include those ISU vs Iowa match-ups. Just because they are lightly attended does not automatically render them useless in this series.
