Your beef isn't with me. Why don't you take up your case with the Executive Committee of the Pan American Games? After all, they're the ones that stripped your coach of his medal, not me. I'm sure if someone with your credentials calls them up and says the banned substance shouldn't be banned, they'll reinstate his record immediately, and with an apology to boot.

I am sure if you look up side effects of Decca and WInstrol it probably says the same thing. It's a possible side effect, not THE effect. The fact is, this drug helps you recover from workouts faster and allows you to gain more muscle as well as increase metabolism. Now why in the world would a wrestler want to increase his metabolism?

No worries man, I saw the question mark at the end of the first paragraph and wasn't sure if this was an agreement or disagreement. My bad...

Oh I see now.

Thing is, I'm horrible at message board arguments. I really wish my Hawkeyes would just stay outta trouble for awhile; it gets really annoying trying to defend them again and again.

I saw skin condition and then muscle wasting. Therefore, I assumed it should be a non-issue. My mistake, because I 100% understand your opinions on this. I'm still a high schooler in Iowa City, so you guys probably know a little more about steriods and such anyways.

OK I'm done. Hopefully the Hawks will stay out of trouble for awhile .... not counting on it though.

Ethics have escaped the Iowa athletic program for a long time now.

Ummmm, hate to bring this up, but weren't there a few athletes on the ISU football team who were "caught using banned substances by the NCAA"?

That was like, 2 years ago?

Hey, what do you know - a quick google search yielded this article: Iowa State Daily

Now, the reason I bring this up, is because this entire thread is trying to point out how un-ethical the Iowa program is because of this coach who used a skin cream that is banned by the NCAA. People also try to point out how the players are probably cheaters as well.

This is one of those "pot, meet kettle" moments.

SH you never cease to amaze! It seems like you are back out on the campaign trail again. Spinning, and distorting! You are very good at morphing anything-bravo.

However; your logic is failed. Are you trying to show us that the example of Matt's over the counter supplement consumption is the equivalent of the Iowa Wrestling Stength Coach(a leader)? Are you stipulating that one athlete's mistake equals all of the mistakes found in the UoI program, that appears to be a result of the culture of corruption fostered by your head coaches and supported and bolstered by an AD that can't control his staff or athletes?

You certainly aren't saying a kid that was suspended and never allowed to complete a collegiate athletic career is the same as a coach that continues to get paid and lead athletes in the same sport he was just suspended from by international sports governing body?

This isn't a case of pot meet kettle, it is more an example of you longing to justify a culture of corruption as a Hawk fan. The saying goes "ignorance is bliss."-enjoy your bliss filled day.

No..... I'm saying ISU has had a run-in with an athlete getting in trouble by the NCAA due to use of a banned substance.

The point is, this doesn't make Iowa City's culture "corrupted". It means one person made a stupid mistake. I know, the response is going to be tying this in with all the problems that occurred with the football team, and so on and so forth. That's been beaten to death.

I know people seem to think that the culture in Iowa City is so different than that of Ames, and that Iowa athletes are the worst of worst scum in the world, but the fact of the matter is, that's ignorant.

Re: Iowa Wrestling Strength Coach in the news

you are in denial SH. A coach for the UofI has been found to have used performance enhancing drugs and is still employed and leads athletes.

Matt Robertson bought an over counter supplement that broke the rules. He no longer is associated with the ISU FB program.

However your coach continues to be paid to lead athletes with his "expertise" in training....

Re: Iowa Wrestling Strength Coach in the news

I would have loved for the NCAA to test each wrestler on the UofI team soon after the season started.

No, I'm not defending the guy. If the NCAA has problems with him, it'll be taken care of. Should he be fired before the NCAA requests action? No, that would be stupid. It all depends on what the NCAA thinks in this situation (and man, do I hate saying that).

Really? You're honestly going to sit there and claim that the wrestling team is a bunch of doped up cheaters? Sour grapes much?

ISU was pretty darn good this year too - maybe they are on roids?

Frankly the "worst scum in the world&amp" are the apologists, excuse makers, and folks that continue to employ a cheater in a capacity in which his duty(both explicit and implicit) is to use his knowledge which appears to include performance enhancing drugs. Make excuses-I don't care it remains wrong and is a perfect example of the culture of cheating and "the end justifies the means" mentality in Iowa City.

Right, well, apparently you know all the facts, and are in a good place to pass judgment. How's the view up there?
