THe view from where I sit is quite clear. It is a bit clouded when the ends justifies the means-eh.Suppose all the run in's Kirk's boys are having wouldn't be so problematic if they were winning national championships, right. Your logic sickens me. Is the best you have illogical personal attacks when you run out of logic? Why not just call me a poopy head?

I hope they are not doped up cheaters. But when their trainer purposely avoids rules for his advantage.... THAT brings questions into his ethics and where he draws the line. I say, we find out where that line is. Unless the UofI does an open book investigation while putting him on suspension until all is known.

How has my logic sickened you? When did I ever say it was right? I haven't. I don't care if he gets fired - if what he did is deemed punishable by losing his job, I would agree 100%.

My point (and comparison) is just pointing out that those who are casting stones are living in a glass house. It's pot calling the kettle black. ISU had a player taking illegal substances, and then when a guy at Iowa does the same thing, it's "the culture over there".

The run-ins with the football team have sickened all Iowa fans. I have no idea why these players went psycho, but I've got news for you - the culture/atmosphere in Iowa City is no worse than it is in other liberal college cities. Their problems had less to do with the culture, and more to do with messed up personalities.

Blame the culture all you want - that's cool. I'm going to blame the people involved, because I like to think that people are capable of making mature and informed decisions, and don't have to be influenced by what others are doing.

Well, I'm not sure how ethical it is to do more testing than necessary on players simply because their coach is an idiot.

this is why you will continue to argue this point.

But they are NOT the same. Matt, a single player who is only responsible for his actions, made a mistake and is no longer a part of the team or ISU. (didn't ISU turn him in? and wasn't the supplement an accident, doesn't really matter but diminishes intent)

The UofI trainer got caught by an outside agency, clearly breaking the rules AND is being paid to lead UofI athletes. His decisions and knowledge impact more than just him. Yet he is STILL a part of the team and the UofI.

How is this apples to apples?

I didn't know you injected skin creams these days.

Exactly, he was caught by an outside agency - not the U of I. I highly doubt that Brands would allow a guy to stay on the staff if he knew he was purposely breaking the rules. Brands is crazy, but I have no doubt he's ethical.

We'll see how it turns out, it's now how many days since they found this out? I think immediate action without an investigation would be a mistake.

that has been my point along. why not? What the UofI does here will be very telling...

do they look into his past actions as a coach and investigate his decisions and policies as a coach?

do they suspend till everything is know about his cheating?

do they let him go at all?

These aren't good questions the UofI has to address.

either way, I predict there is more to this story and very little will come out as to what he did as a coach for the UofI.

Sounds like every other story out there. There's always more that comes out once questions start getting asked.

Having a friend who wrestled for EIU the same time as Brands twins were then, I can tell you from their stories that Brands and ethics should never be used in the some sentence unless they are contradicting themselves.

Then again, who knows, it might have been a different Tom Brands even with the same home town and birthday they were talking about and not the good old coach.

And comparing, once again, an ISU story where the player was caught by ISU and kicked off the team to a paid coach who is a leader to the kids is ridiculous.

Doctor Prescribed it? that means nothing. Didn't a doctor prescribe steroids for 28 Carolina Panthers?

Guys quit wasting your time. SH has determined that Zadick is innocent even though he admits guilt.

You will not convince him that Zadick cheated, and is in a position of influence over young athletes, and could use that influence to help them cheat as well.

There are some folks you just don't debate here-

Re: Iowa Wrestling Strength Coach in the news

So why didn't he ask for the exemption and follow the rules....

so a doctor prescribed it and he didn't tell the PAM-AM games..... ???

yeah.. THAT makes sense.
