You will not convince him that Zadick cheated, and is in a position of influence over young athletes, and could use that influence to help them cheat as well.
There are some folks you just don't debate here-
Yup, he's admitting guilt to using a doctor prescribed skin cream that is normally legal with the right paper work.
I guess everybody has a point - he must be trying to hide something since he forgot to fill out the right forms.

I guess everybody has a point - he must be trying to hide something since he forgot to fill out the right forms. A cream that is also a proven preformance enhancer. A cream that athletes 'seek out' doctors that will prescribe it for them. It's all just spin...

Man, People will do anything for any kind of steroid these days. Searching out doctors to get a prescription for a common topical skin cream? Especially when the side effects aren't "Bulking up to a huge size so you can overpower your opponent in a wrestling event."
Maybe he wants his skin rash to turn into extra muscle.
I don't know, but apparently, he sought out this doctor to gain some sort of advantage. Kenalog Information from Drugs.com | ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds. |

This is the exact same drug (triamcinilone acetonide) that our doctor prescribes for our son's canker sores. Put a little dab on it at night, and the sore is gone two days later. Great stuff.
My boy is a doper!

Ruh Roh! Did you search out this doctor so that your son could get an advantage playing Tag on the playground?

My boy is a doper! Yup and I have a friend that uses EPO due to cancer treatment, remember these are legal drugs when prescribed for a particular diagnosis.
Every single one of these drugs has a reason they are limited in use. It wasn't like he took an illegal slurpy from 7-11 he used a banned/prohibited use drug without a TUE.
We can debate this ad nauseam, but tell me will Zadick get that medal back SH? NO! Because he used a drug without a TUE which is a violation, and as such he cheated.
Furthermore; you can try and make whatever excuse you would like, but he cheated intentionally or unintentionally-either way he cheated. He still has a job employed in a position that leads athletes specifically in strength and conditioning-an area that he just violated international sport rules.
In the world of sport and drug it is guilty until proven innocent-he was found guilty. In the world of public opinion as it pertains to Iowa Athletics perception is reality-and the perception of Iowa City isn't good right now. Like it or lump it he is guilty of cheating...and he's a Hawk-right now the two often seem to be intertwined- hence the "culture of corruption".
Maybe this wasn't THE Zadick probably just a dude from his hometown with the same name, blah, blah, blah. It really gets tiring listening to your excuses.

jmb Nobody, including Zadick is lobbying for him to get his medal back. The entire point that I'm making, is that this is much ado about nothing. He used the cream without a TUE form, and he payed the penalty. End of story.
This entire thread has been about how Iowa is a bunch of cheaters, the wrestling team should be tested, and this is just another testament to the horrible culture over in Iowa City. My point all along is that while he may have used the cream without the proper forms, people are blowing this out of proportion.
I know, you're going to remain convinced that Zadick is a dirty rotten cheater, and Iowa is just a bunch of loser thugs, but seriously. What he did was nothing more than improperly filing a form.
If that's cheating, than I wonder how many people here have cheated?

I'll answer with a question. Why would he do it on purpose?
I've got a response after you answer.

I think he did it on purpose expecting to get away with the cream helping his metabolism.

-keep. I respect your opinion but this makes no sense. All he had to do was fill out some paperwork and he could have competed while taking the drug anyway, so I don't think he was trying to hide the fact he was taking it when it would be legal to take it during competition with the proper paperwork.
I have to agree with SH on this one, there really isn't a story here because it isn't a ban substance where he gained a significant advantage by using it.

Good Point. But the big difference is Ankiel can't fill out paperwork to take this and keep playing because it is banned by MLB. Where as whatever Mr.Zadick took he can still compete while taking the drug with the paperwork because it wasn't banned.
I'm not trying to stick up for what he did, but just look at this as an outsider and not as a Hawk vs. Clone thing and tell me if you still think it is as big of deal as some seem to think. Like I said it isn't a stroy to me.

If anything I am looking at as someone who has been around the drugs in sports culture and knows what drugs people are trying to get their hand on. Also someone who is tired of people only raggin baseball for using preformance enhancing drugs when it is obviously much more wide spread.

If we were to take Zadick's incident outside the scope of the rest of what has been happening in Iowa City, I would be much more likely to give him a pass. However; if you were to look at this through the reality of the entire athletic department's recent history, this is on appearance more than a "non-story".
I have a real problem(as I would if it were to happpen in Ames) with this guy being a S&C coach where drug usage is a real problem-and still leading young athletes. Iowa's AD probably needs to make Zadick an example and fire him. Take the high road, and preserve the "integrity" of sport.
This is a real issue, and the guy is a "world class" athlete that got stripped of his medal due to the appearance of cheating-that isn't good, it is much more than a non-story.
