What does that say about where the Iowa program is if it is getting compaired to where Kansas was.

I'm not an expert on sports, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night

Not all of them. Some of them decided to transfer after being implicated but not (yet) charged with a crime.

Everyone would have said the same thing before the 2007 season where their schedule was Syracuse, ISU, two MAC teams, and the Big Ten minus Ohio State and Michigan.

Re: Mark May picked Iowa.....

I saw the show. My interpretation is that he picked them to be "on the move up." I didn't interpret it that he picked them to be "the next Kansas."

Mark May picking Iowa. Wow. That's kind of like saying that the Mississippi River is muddy and cold, a pot of boiling water is hot, New York City is a big city, and Ferentz is an overpaid coach...

EDIT - I'm not saying Iowa's going to be that good, because they're not. I'm just stating on the COMMENT of Mark May picking Iowa to be a surprise team.

My Roman Villas:
Friley-Godfrey (-66|126)
Helser-Woodrow (-61|122)
Roberts-Harriman (-74|133)
Welch-Ayres (-73|133)

Re: Mark May picked Iowa.....

I was talking with a Hawk fan this other week and even he wasn't optimistic about this upcoming season because they don't have much at RB right now and Christensen was not very impressive last year. I just don't see that team pulling off a Kansas-like surprise. Right now finishing at 9 wins would be a surprise I think considering this team looks a lot like last year's.

Serious question: How is it that Mark May has a job? I don't just mean an analyst job on ESPN, I mean any job? This guy is ALMOST as big a tool as Trev Alberts.

In other news, it is expected to be reported later today that Mark May has been high on drugs all of his adult life, and even a good share of his adolescent days.

Seriously, how can anyone pick Iowa right now with all the problems there? These sleeper projections are just silly...no "risk" involved at all. Because if you're wrong, it was only a sleeper pick.

Re: Mark May picked Iowa.....

The next time ESPN has a college football chat someone should seriously ask when Mark May is finally going to quit being a total homer and jump off of the Hawkeye bandwagon. The sick thing is it's not even a "trendy" pick anymore - it's a "lose your credibility" pick.

Maybe he meant that he would be really surprised if they were good. I know I will be. Let's not ask him what he thinks about ISU.
