I feel this is a dumb, dumb decision. He is going to the gauntlet of the Big East.

Providence has already called a press conference for later today.
Also, in New Mexico, Steve Alford is holding a press conference announcing he isn't taking the job.

I actually can't believe he is doing this. He is leaving a Drake team that will be competitive again next year. Drake is also the team that his Dad layed the foundation for. He has one good season and ditches on his team and Drake. All I can think is that this move is all about $$$$.

He had to take the money now because it wasn't going to be there a year or two from now.

If someone showed up at my cube and offered to more than triple my salary - my first move (after accepting of course) would be to walk over and inform my boss.
I'd bet that new salary that almost all people would do the same thing.
I don't blame Keno at all.

Getting over triple your current salary for 7 years...I don't blame him one bit.

I really think he should have waited ONE more year. Providence is a very tough job and they were probably going to be top 3-4 in the MVC again next year. He could have parlayed that into a much better job IMO.

I think if in a couple years if he gets his system in place, he could do well in the Big East, they aren't as low scoring as the Big Ten, but they have quite a few low scoring games where his system could put up points.

Or...what if he turns Providence into a winner, at least competitive in the Big East in a few years?
Big East > MVC
Win there and who knows what is in store for him after that.

I am not sure they would have been top 3 or 4 in the MVC next year. And let's say they were 3-4. That is a step back from this year and the money would not be there like it is now. Just my opinion of course...

I'm sure it is still a raise over anything Drake could have paid out.
