Re: Who does Drake go after now?

I think they should go after Danny Manning at KU. He wants to be a head coach and it won't be at KU for a while now that Self won a championship. Crazy or not too crazy?

If the wealthy Drake alums were willing to fork out big money, they wouldn't have had to wait this long for success. Bill Knapp finally got frustrated enough with Drake having to share Vets Auditorium that he donated big bucks to build the Knapp center. Beyond that, though, you don't hear "Drake Athletics" and "Big Donor Contributions" in the same sentence very often.

Re: Who does Drake go after now?

I find it hilarious that you corrected the spelling of Kelvin Sampson's name via a mobile device. Coincidence?

Re: Who does Drake go after now?

Matt Woodley is the answer. He is a Drake alum who has been part of a very successful program at Washington State. He is young, would generate excitement within the fan base, has strong Drake and statewide connections, and is a proven recruiter.

I made the mistake of turning it to Cotlar this morning on the way to work and Sandy Hatfield-Club was on and they were saying that Drake is an elite job and people will be beating down their door to get the job. From doormat to elite in one year, huh?

Re: Who does Drake go after now?

It seems like the candidates are lining up, unlike some other coaching searches in the past... Woodley was on M&M the other day basically begging for the job and now DeVries is saying he wants in http://www.desmoinesregister.com/app...0403/80416091. Sounds like it won't be open long

Re: Who does Drake go after now?

This could be the hardest time for Drake to replace a basketball coach. When Rudy Washington and Kirk Kanaskie were replaced, the fans expectations are low.

Don't count Jeff Rutter out of the running. He is held in high regard in coaching circles.

"If it was easy, someone else would have done it already." ISU Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard
