Credits: 402 | Marty and Miller Yesterday Did anyone listen. I thought they were being so unfair and over the top with Drake not being able to lock down Keno. I felt embarrased for them. I know Marty is over the top on everything it's just that there was no way for Drake to hold onto Keno with the contract he was offered. Really bad radio as far as I am concerned. I am one that actually likes that show most of the time. I know they have there haters but yesterday was bad. I felt bad for the Drake athletic director. She did nothing wrong. She basically just got out bid for Keno. |

Great show though.

Since there is no way to confirm or deny that at this point, I am not sure what else you would have expected him to do. He IS Marty afterall.

If there really was no contact between the AD and the coach since the tourney loss, then that is a major problem. As soon as the season was over, they should have had a raise ready for him. Yeah, they couldn't match $1M a year, but they could have tried $400k and a 10 year guaranteed contract with a big buyout. At least there would have been an effort there.

They were all in on the bandwagon and loving it in Tampa, but when it comes time to pay the piper where were there? I think they have the backers to put a reasonable $500k offer out there, they just didn't get it done.

Basically, I told them not to be stupid, and to take the new job. And that they would be welcome back if it didn't work out.

He just wants to stir the pot and draw attention to himself. I have no doubts that Sandy Hatfield Clubb did everything the right way
Remember his dentist and Jay Norvell?

Remember his dentist and Jay Norvell? As stated, I am far from defending Marty. It is his schtick, he tries to be as crazy as he can be.
I am not "convinced" of ANYTHING either. I am glad you have no doubts about their AD. Truthfully I don't care and just realized I am posting in another Drake thread. In any case, Drake and Sandy are going to spin it their way, Marty his. The truth is probably in the middle somewhere.

I felt they were roasting the Drake AD more for not asking the Drake Boosters to pony up some more dough.
Personally, they can only ask the Knapp's, Neugent's, and Crawford's of the world for so much $$$ before they start to turn their backs on the program. |

I would like to have seen Keno stay longer but what if Drake tanks next year? That kind of job and money would not be there probably. |

Yesterday, for example, he almost convinced himself that the AD never contacted Keno between the NCAA game and now, which in fact has proven to be false, per Keno and the AD. So, a good hour of radio yesterday was total B.S., based on rumors and innuendo. |

Personally, I think Providince is taking a HUGE gamble. Keno has one year on his belt. He had success using the former coach's players who all know the system and fit into the system since Keno's coaching style is VERY similar to Dr. Tom's. Now Keno is going into an unfamiliar school with none of his own players and has to teach a new system to guys who may not fit in to the system. I don't expect great success out of Providence in the next few years.
Great decision by Keno, but risky choice for Providence. |
