Ding ding ding ding.

If Young Lick earns his keep in the pukeye system, he should be up for a scholly in the future. If he proves to be good enough, give him a ride. If he plays like a comparable walk-on, keep him as a walk-on.

Not sure what the policies are at EIU, but many schools have significantly discounted rates for kids of faculty. Such as 75% off the actual retail price (channeling The Price is Right). So $8,000 in tuition would only be $2,000.

The point is they can't do a lot of things with the team. I don't know why people get bent out of shape about this at all. He was the #6 C in the country for god's sake, he deserved it. Let's say it is a terrible decision - it hurts a rival and someone we play every year. This should be a good thing if you look at it that way.

Re: Recruiting your own son

I would imagine that a coach getting his son on his team can possibly be a no win situation with fans/rival fans regardless of which way he decides to do it. If he is a scholarship candidate and he is given a scholarship, then the coach is criticized because he has the money and should use that scholarship for another good player since the son wants to play for his dad anyway. If he forces him to walk on then he's padding his team up since he gets X number for scholarship caliber athletes at the cost of (X-1) scholly's. If Ferentz is the #6 C in the nation, he is definitely deserving of a scholly I would have to say.

Question for the day: Can I still make season tickets work for FB and MBB if I move to Canada?

It actually hurt me to write that. We're working like 100 hours a week right now and I couldn't find time to construct it correctly. Unfortunately, the editing staff won't do my internet forum posts.

I think this may be the exception rather than the norm at public universities. It may happen in some places, but not very many. It isn't unusual to see a "star professor" move from a good public university to a good private university once his or her children reach college age.
