I would also be fine ending the series. But what makes you so confident that you could set up a series with Nebraska or Mizzou? With Nebraska, they fill their stadium anyway and they are now playing big teams from different regions to help recruiting. Missouri already plays Illinois so I doubt they'd pick up another Big11 school. Plus, they don't usually schedule that tough. But hey, you're the Iowa Hawkeyes. I'm sure everyone is dying to play you, just look through your non-conference schedule for the last few years. A lot of big names there.

This is a poor excuse. Know how to get that $7 million? Sell outs.

Iowa's prices were lower way before the BTN. And Iowa would not be raising prices this year regardless of the BTN situation.

Honestly, I don't care. He can do that, and that's fine. But should ISU not be winning in a few years, we'll see how popular that is.

ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds.

I hear Valley is looking at an open week in September. Maybe Barta could get that series going so you have a better chance at winning then the 30% track record you have against ISU the last 10 yrs. Both NU and Mizzu would make you look like a bunch of Jr High practice squads which would just quicken the pace of you clowns booing your players off the field.

Colorado coach Gary Barnett "I thought we had a pretty good mascot, but when we showed up at Iowa State, they had a real tornado. That's the real deal." November 12, 2005

So if ISU sold-out every game we would generate another $7mil in revenue? I don't see how attendance would affect the amount of revenue a school would get from a conference television network. Doesn't everyone just get a certain share of the pie?

Hmm...I seem to remember Missouri backing out of a series with the Hawks.

I realize scheduling non-conference opponets can be difficult. I'm not saying Nebraska or Mizzu would go for it, I'm just saying it's a series I would like to see as a fan

Couldn't beat any of the three, keep on working to beat Western Michigan then talk. Oh yes, I went there.

Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

Iowa was going to have Missouri on the schedule before they backed out. They recently ended a series with Arizona State and are playing Pittsburgh this season. When was the last time ISU scheduled a difficult non-conference opponent? FSU 5 years ago??

Western Michigan wasn't available last year.

Honestly, I think the ISU-Iowa series holds back both teams. Let's face it, in today's college football world, you're only going to schedule probably 1 non-conference game against another BCS team (if even that many, right Texas Tech?). Having to play Iowa every year really limits who we get to see the Clones match-up against, and vice versa. In 2002 it was awesome to go to Arrowhead and see us play against Florida State. I would like to see a home and home with some other teams once in a while. I just get tired of seeing Iowa and UNI on the schedule all the time.

Take a look at your schedule down the road--pretty sure you face UNI. Flaming ISU for scheduling a team that your team has also scheduled? Ooookay.

Gosh, I'm sure Maine and Florida Int'l are gonna be real barn-burners too!
