I know one decent Hawk fan. Might be able to stretch it to two if I really give they guy the benefit of the doubt. The rest I know are knobs. And the female ones might be the worst.

At lunch today, a few people were talking about Iowa football in the teacher's lounge, and I made a remark like "I know that Iowa likes to have privacy at Kinnick, but those shooting guard tower renovations are a little much for me." The response I got was "Yea, too many of our kids (students) have been recruited lately." I have to admit, that was a pretty good recovery.

A majority of their fans couldn't even say who their starting QB or PG will be next fall (or last fall for that matter). They just know that the next hawk game is another reason to sit in the bar all day and get drunk.

I don't buy the 1% spoils it for the other 99% stuff.
I'd say 67% of Hawk Fans (at least) are arrogant and condescending toward Iowa State. And they honestly think they're doing us a "favor" by not being openly abusive.
Doublespeak is interesting, especially when practiced by the arrogant and ignorant.

Some people use what team a person is a fan of to judge their personality. It's like a new form of racism.
I understand hating a fan base - that's cool. But I've never got this loathing people have for one another simply because of the team they cheer for. "OMG, look at that ____ fan, I bet they live in a trailer and are the scum of the earth!"
It's fun to joke about that sort of thing from time to time, but comments people make (not just on message boards) can really make a person wonder.
Being a fan of a team doesn't make you a good/bad person, which is something I think people fail to realize.

Being a fan of a team doesn't make you a good/bad person, which is something I think people fail to realize. I agree. I used to not hate Hawk Fans. But I came to hate them and their team by the multiple years of abuse/arrogance/condescending attitudes. I've become a lot like the "bitter enders" at the end of the American Civil War.
I work out with a Hawk fan, who is a thoroughly decent guy, (all the way in Germany, of all places!!!) but in principle, their fan base has earned my derision for them.

Pretty decent one on one, but they turn into complete morons when found in large groups. | "We have gone forth from our shores repeatedly over the last hundred years and we've done this as recently as the last year in Afghanistan and put wonderful young men and women at risk, many of whom have lost their lives, and we have asked for nothing except enough ground to bury them in, and otherwise we have returned home to seek our own, you know, to seek our own lives in peace, to live our own lives in peace." I guess I should have mentioned that northern fanbases really don't "hate" eachother.
I forgot about the Oklahoma fan who ripped a Texas fan's jewels open.
