I think its a pretty decent article. I am fairly certian that the majority of each fan base loves beating the other school, but are more worried about wining the big conf. games. I would trade an Iowa Loss for an OU win anyday. |

There has been extensive posts on this subject, where posters (who are more motivated to keep track of these things than I am) demonstrate that in the years when ISU beats them, they simply had the better team. Period.
But they just cannot admit that, in their delusional arrogance and ignorance.

7 out of 10 would equal a tradition.

so the underdog makes steps by cleaning out it's own house first. Nothing new or special about what ISU is doing.

Here was a quote from Pollard, and I am curious what ISU fans think of it: "We understand that we are the little brother, trying to get mom and dad's attention from big brother." |

It's this simple -- the better team has won and we've been the better team 7 out of the last 10 times. They have a hard time dealing in reality so they have to pretend there's more to it than that. They're not a very bright fan base. |

In terms of on the field, we are big brother, at least in the last 10 years. There's not much separating us on the field anymore, so I guess we could be twins. Don't make me say who's the evil twin.

He most likely had his tongue firmly in cheek, knowing the majority of the hawk fan base would be too simple to get it. |

We haven't been able to recruit as many blue chippers, but if you notice the NFL is full of players who weren't blue chippers.
Why we beat them? We play in a tougher conference and we work harder than they do. |

And sometimes "little brother" can mature and grow up and kick "big brother's rear end" on a consistent basis. Then instead of "little brother", they are merely the "younger brother".
By the way, Congratulations on being Last Place for the Director's Cup for the Third Consecutive Year. |

What irks me about most Hawk fans is they think it is their birthright to be great. Trust me, they are on nobody's radar outside of IA, WI and MN. They are have a much better tradition than ISU but not nearly as great as they like to think.
As a fan of a program w/o a lot of tradition I choose to believe that every program can improve. ala Rutgers.
ISU fans are enjoying the 7of 10 streak and why shouldn't we. During Iowa's 15 year streak we heard it all every day. By the way I don't remeber ANY Hawk fans EVER mention discontinuing the series during that 15 year stretch. |

Hawkeye fans say it doesn't matter then act like jerks when we win. This is actually a very true post.
Personally, there are no theories as to why either team wins. With the exception of 2002, the better team has won. That's not to say that by the end of the year the results wouldn't have been different, but most of the games have been pretty evenly matched, regardless of the teams' final records.
And I know ISU fans go back to the 7/10 argument. That's great and everything. But I'd like to point out, when ever an Iowa fan uses the 19/26 argument, it's "irrelevant because that 15 game winning streak was against some of the worst teams in ISU football history".
Just thought I'd mention, 3 of those 5 wins were against some of Iowa's worst teams in history, and came over half a decade ago. If you're going to call the 15 game streak irrelevant because of time and how bad the team was, so is that 5 game winning streak.
But, like I said, the teams have been pretty even in the past 6 years.
