I don't know how anybody could say there isn't a QB controversy at ISU. It's clear that we won't know who is going to be the man until we see them play some real games. Let's just say it's more of a quarterback competition at ISU.
At EIU, it may be whoever falls into the role. |

And while I appreciate the insider information from this starter's parents, I was very much impressed by JC's improvement in this spring scrimmage over the last one. Last year he was overthrowing passes from the get-go. This time, his passes were more on target, he better stepped back in the pocket, and he got rid of the ball a lot quicker when the defense brought the blitz.
Stanzi... I'm on the Stanzi bandwagon. He had 2-3 beautiful passes 45 yards down the field go for TDs. It'll be nice to have Moeaki, Brodell, Stross, Chaney, and DJK all healthy and ready to go.
And I'll say this - the defense is going to be stingy this year, and agressive. They looked quick yesterday, and while that could speak for how poor the offense was, they actually looked improved over last year at this time. They were swarming, and they were pumped. Overall, to me, under 7 wins would be dissapointing. Very dissapointing.
Here we go again...

I'm sure by the time the season starts, most hawk fans will be expecting at LEAST 8-4. And then after two early blowouts, you'll be revising to 10-2 or maybe even the Rose Bowl and 11-1. Then ISU comes to kinnick and brings reality with them. By the end of the year, iowa fans are shocked and dismayed to be 6-6, but the NEXT year you'll be back playing on NYD where "iowa is suppoesed to be".

8-4...could be 7-5, could be 9-3. Anything under 7-5 and heads are going to start rolling.

Now by June/July surely they will be BCS contenders and after the first couple Jr High games with wins, they will be undefeated and play for the crystal football.

I can't wait for reality to set in... Ok, what's your prediction then? The Hawks schedule is set up perfectly this season, all the good teams at home and all the cupcakes on the road. The Hawks were horrible last year and STILL went 6-6, 7-5 isn't a crazy prediction at all.

Yet you 'guess' they will go 2-3 on the road... 3 losses to cupcakes, since all the good teams travel to IC...
Interesting.

Don't get bent out of shape, this is a Cyclone site not Hawkeye. You're the one who started the prediction thing. Although a prediction of 7-5 would have really got you burned on any Hawkeye site. Everyone knows they will have one of the best defenses in the nation and with their God given right to a NYD Bowl they are sure to go at least 10-2 or even play for the NC.

Yeah, but wasn't the sked last year set up for Iowa to make a run at the Big 10 title, if not an outside shot at a national title?
Everything I keep hearing (outside of homeristic Iowa fans) is that this team is even less talented than last year's team with a schedule very similar to last year's, and yet there's still this expectation that you're going to win 7-9 games with an outside shot at making a run at the Big 10 title. Um, yeah. That would be like me saying that Iowa State will be playing in the Big XII championship game this year. As much as I'd like that to happen, ain't gonna happen...

I don't (and won't) have a prediction about either team until I see some actual play in games that count, not spring games. You say the hawk schedule is set up perfectly this season, which is exactly what you were saying last season. A lot of hawk fans, including Jon Miller were talking 10-2 most probably, maybe 9-3 on the lower end and if things went really well you could see 11-1 and Big 11 champs and a BCS bowl. Yes, the team was horrible last year, but they have a lot of key positions to fill and are nowhere near tested for this year so how can you predict sure wins against patsy's that beat you last year.
When you destroy your first two teams and if you beat ISU at Kinnick and play well against Pitt regardles of W or L, then you can talk to 7-5, 8-4 and with luck 9-3, but if you learned anything from last year it should be that the last thing you guys should be doing is predicting any record. I am very impressed with where Chizik is taking the Cyclones but I'm not going out there and saying 7-5 or better just because I think that is where they should be. It's almost like most hawk fans think it's there God given right to be 7-5.

From my perspective, Iowa could be as bad as 3-9 or as good as 7-5 (+bowl game). Time will tell...
