ESPN doesn't know jack when it comes to recruiting. Listen to Rivals/Scout. Not taking anything away from him but I think Wegher's offers have a LOT to do with his website and self-promotion.

i stand corrected. thought a couple of our 2 star guys last fall had 40 ratings.

We have no chance with Davis or wegher. But there's a chance for us to get Barrent. Hopefully

Thank you Wes Johnson for the great 2 years you gave Iowa State. Wish you could've stayed. Best of luck to you, wherever you end up.

"The one thing I really want to say is to tell the fans thank you for everything," Johnson said. "You rooted for me, you were behind me with my injury, and I really appreciated that."

I'm saying that cause wegher has tons of big offers already. And barrents sister goes to isu. And he's already said he wants to stay instate

I'm betting that Davis goes to iowa, Barrent goes to IL and Wegher goes to OU or Nebraska. ISU will get the Valley TE and the Bett OL.

Do or do not, there is no try .....Yoda

Re: Lots of in-state talent this year

From what I have heard, Bofelli is close to committing to the good guys

Wegher wont be committing to the Hawks. To many concerns with what has been going on over in IC. ISU probably has no more than a 5% chance with him also. He will go out of state.

There is 0% chance we get Davis and I think the coaches know that and it shows by their non offer

Barrent's sister goes to ISU but him and his dad are big Hawk fans. Don't forget though our history with Valley kids. We seem to have a good pipeline their. And isn't Bruns a coach there?

Everybody complains about players being rated better just because they accepted an offer to an elite school, or not rated high enough just because they accepted an offer to ISU. Yet, here people are saying this player should be in the top 100 considering his school list.

I don't think it's the same situation. A guy like Wegher should be rated high in my opinion because he has offers from many schools and frankly I think coaching staffs are a better evaluator of talent than anybody working for Scout or Rivals.

The only guy that I can think of dropping in star rating when committing to us was Arnaud, and he didn't have near the offer list of Wegher but that's probably because he committed so early.

Re: Lots of in-state talent this year

Bofelli is ours to lose. I'll be surprised if he doesn't end up a clone.

Iowa has no shot at Wegher and ISU has maybe a 3% chance. Once OU offers he will be a Sooner. ISU has no shot at Davis but he might go to Iowa. Most likely out of the state.

ISU and Iowa have a legitimate shot at Barrent.

Some People see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say why not? When I took this job I said why not Iowa State? Why not winning? Why not bowl games? Why not sell outs? Why not national respect? Why not us? Why not here? Why not the cyclone family?

I think Barrent will be a clone, and davis and wegher will definetely not be. He wants to go someplace with a really good engineering program. I think that will outweigh him liking the hawks if thats true

Iowa doesn't have the inside track with the state's top talent anymore:

1. Parents are reluctant to send their kids to a program where 1 out of 5 players have been arrested in the past year.

2. Kirk and his staff are on the hot seat. High school players are looking at being in college for the next 4 or in most cases 5 years. There is little confidence that all of the assistants, coordinators, or even Kirk will still be at Iowa 5 years from now.

3. Kids want to go to programs where they can win, be popular, and go to bowl games. Being booed off their own field on senior day and having a mediocre no-bowl season with the promise of more to come takes away any advantage Iowa had over ISU in this area.

4. Kids want to play on tv where out-of-town friends and relatives can see them and where someday NFL scouts might see them and hear their names. Thanks to the the Big Ten Network, a lot of Big Ten games are now played in secret.
