Right, but let's say you are the apple picker. Would you blame yourself if when you picked the apples to make your apple sauce, you accidentally picked one with a worm in it?

I mean, if you picked these apples up of the ground, and knew they were rotten, then you shouldn't be an apple picker anymore. But just plucking them from the tree after quick inspections (because you have to have that apple sauce made soon!), you'd never know until it was too late.

Apparently, there were some early frosts the past few years for the Hawkeye Apple Tree.

If the apple picker only makes quick inspections, maybe he doesn't really care what kind of apples he picks?

I'd make sure I was picking from a quality tree before I picked.

Apparently, you don't have much experience in the apple picking business. There are time constraints, and if you take too much time, all of the good apples will be taken.

There's nothing wrong with the tree - just some of the apples on the tree.

Of course, if you picked from a diseased tree, that would probably be bad too.

All of those people who have abandoned this thread (rightfully so) a long time ago are gonna be a little confused if they just click on page 4

But if my livelihood depended on the quality of the apples that I picked, I think it would be good for me to learn to pick good apples quickly, if speed was important. Or, maybe hire some people that are good apple inspectors, thus giving each inspector more time to find the quality apples.

That is an excellent point, but also throws another twist into it. Now you need to have complete faith in your hired apple pickers to pick quality apples. You, as the head apple picker, can only blame the delegated apple pickers for so long before accepting complete responsibility for the bad apples, which will and should, end your ability to be the head apple picker.
