Then it's up to them to fulfill his expectations.

The kid deserves to miss a few games, and extra work-outs etc...
But like the original poster stated, he's partied with some of ISU's football players, so it's not a new issue.

And if you think even though this is minor it will go unnoticed, you are wrong. I already said it not a big deal, but I wouldn't jump for joy about it either.

Ferentz won't be fired for a few PAULAs. But, IMO, there's some message that clearly has not gotten through to his players that they are representing their university, they are role models (like it or not), etc. |

This made me laugh. A lot. I don't know why. Rep to you. Ferentz won't be fired for a few PAULAs. But, IMO, there's some message that clearly has not gotten through to his players that they are representing their university, they are role models (like it or not), etc.[/ College kids are going to drink. Simple as that. The problem is, bars are 19+ in Iowa City. The fact of the matter is, it's much easier to bust a bunch of underage kids at a bar than it is to bust them at a house party.
It's a novel concept, I know. I was really disappointed that the people of Iowa City voted against the age increase.

The difference is that in Iowa City, if an underage kid is caught with alcohol, they are written up. Regardless of how stupid they were being. I've seen people ID'd and ticketed walking down the street carrying a 12 pack.
In Ames, the police are quite a bit easier on that sort of thing.

In Ames, the police are quite a bit easier on that sort of thing. Well, then I'd suggest not walking down the sidewalk with a 12 pack. I've seen kids in campus town walk from house to house to house looking for a party and carrying a 12 pack or bigger. I've seen the same in Iowa City. The difference? The police nab you for it in IC. And I saw that during ONE weekend in IC. If I can learn that in a 2-night stay, don't you think a kid could learn that over the course of a semester or school year (not particularly this kid in question, but in general)?
Adjust your activity (especially if it's "illegal") to suit the government/enforcing agency in the area around you. |

In Ames, the police are quite a bit easier on that sort of thing. So now your saying the only difference between EIU's 15 arrests and ISU is how strict the police department is????? I know you are the king of spin but in this case you are trying to spin re-rod.......

Adjust your activity (especially if it's "illegal") to suit the government/enforcing agency in the area around you. That was just an example I saw. Hundermark was picked up in a bar.
The problem is most of the parties and stuff take place in bars and clubs in IC. Not the same can be said in Ames.
I'm not defending the guy - it's annoyingly dumb. I'm saying the difference between picking up a ticket for underage drinking is pretty big between Ames and Iowa City.

In Ames, the police are quite a bit easier on that sort of thing. Eh... I've seen both happen in both cities. I think the bigger culprit is the underage kids in the bars in IC, so the police are always going in there and IDing people. I haven't seen that in Ames.
