Mr. Burns' responses: SouthernHawk needs to fact check. Iowa sucks because the entire team is arrested. KF doesn't care because he's payed too much. Big Ten is weak, so Iowa sucks even more.
ketel's responses: I talked to a player on the team, they all hate JC. The Regents are forcing KF to change. Arrests are causing disruption in the team atmosphere. There's no denying that Arnaud and Bates are better QB's than JC because KF offered Arnaud before Stanzi.

Leave it to an Iowa fan to spin a game against a MAC team as being one against a "mediocre" NIU compared to a "really bad" NIU.
Coming next: Western Michigan is really better than the team that got beat 19-2 by Eastern Michigan.

Coming next: Western Michigan is really better than the team that got beat 19-2 by Eastern Michigan. Well, considering 2006 NIU was much better than the 2007 NIU team, it's a valid argument.
And you want to know what's really funny? You'll get a good laugh at this.
Western Michigan beat Toledo 42-28. Oh, and Kent State finished the season on a 7 game losing streak.
Just thought I'd fact check that for yer.

In fact, out of all BCS conference football teams, only a select handful of teams were worse than ISU. Unfortunately for you, Iowa is one of them.

I hear ya. It is a good thing we had a weaker team than those on the non-conference schedule, or else we would have went into the Big 12 winless.

Just to head off Monty's responses:
* Big Ten is weak
** Big 12 is super awesome
So obviously ISU's 3-9 record is more impressive than Iowa's.

I'll take a super weak .500 record over a losing record any day.

That's basically what you're saying. Beating weak teams garners far less exposure to a program than playing and losing to strong teams. I'd rather watch Iowa State play and lose to Texas or Oklahoma instead of playing and beating some UNLV.

I'd rather watch Iowa State play and lose to Texas or Oklahoma instead of playing and beating some UNLV. Iowa beat Illinois and Michigan State. Both bowl teams, and both relatively strong teams.
And also yes, I would rather watch Iowa win than lose.
I'm not trying to trash ISU in any way. Everybody knew that last year would be a tough season.
My response to Monty is just pointing out that he seems to think it's the funniest thing in the world that Iowa loses to WMU, when ISU's losses to Toledo, Kent State, and UNI were worse.
And the logic that ISU beat Iowa, therefore Iowa's 4-4 Big Ten record is more of a testament to how weak the Big Ten is rather than how much Iowa improved is, well, extremely flawed.
I'm not saying that the ISU win was an upset, I'm saying that Iowa improved as the season went on. Minimally, but improvements none-the-less.
Oh, and Iowa's close loss at UW was the closest thing to "rather watch Iowa lose to a tough team than beat a weak team" that it gets.

That's for later. Me either. ISU was better in the beginning, middle, and end of the year.

I would say Iowa State improved quite a bit after the Iowa game as well...
