Re: Would you trade either Arnaud or Bates for Iowa's JC?

I bleed cardinal and gold like the rest of you, but this has "homer" written all over it. What's next, would we trade our redshirt wrestlers for the Hawkeye that won a title this year?

Re: Would you trade either Arnaud or Bates for Iowa's JC?

If JC had our recievers last year he would have had great numbers.

When was the last ISU QB to put up nice TD/INT numbers?

Re: Would you trade either Arnaud or Bates for Iowa's JC?

No way Jose. Now if the question would be, "Would you rather have had Brad Banks or Seneca Wallace?" that would be a better discussion, but this question is kind of biased because we all know that JC sucks.

Those are good apples

I'm not knocking either ISU QB. I'm just saying - there are far more factors than just JC's stats. He swallowed the ball too much, but he wasn't too terribly bad for a first year starter. Given the lack of o-line play and inability of the WRs to hold onto the ball, I'd say he was almost decent at times.

Re: Would you trade either Arnaud or Bates for Iowa's JC?

I am a Hawk fan and I think this is a good question. I still have hope JC can turn it around. I witnessed Matt Rodgers turn it around when I was in undergrad at Iowa.

I definitely have no problem with ISU fans who are skeptical about JC. I would expect them to not want to trade one of there qb's for him.

The book will be written in a couple of years.

Normally, I would never trade a qb, with a year's starting experience, for an unproven qb. JC is 7-6 as a starter, but has not been impressive.

I have no clue, who will be the best qb in the state this year--it is clearly up for grabs.

If someone just checked the box score on Sunday and didnt actually watch Iowa's games, people would think JC is a much better QB than he showed. His stat lines were great for a 1st year QB. But when watching him you notice they had seemingly millions of chances for 1st down but passes were often over/under thrown or dropped. Or he would get nervous and get moving around too much for his own good. Hes not to completely blame for last year, but im not sad to see him as the starter at EIU for the next 2 years.

Re: Would you trade either Arnaud or Bates for Iowa's JC?

The only thing JC has proven is that he's mediocre at best. I'd take Bates or Arnaud on their worst outing over JC's best game so far.

I'm not sad to see him as a starter either, actually.

He made a lot of mistakes, and cost Iowa several games, but he'll improve. He has no where to go but up. If he can put up stats like that in his first year, then I'm excited to see what he can do if he learns how to get rid of the ball and avoids first down losses.

In all fairness, we waited for that from Meyer for four years

Why is this card always pulled by Iowa fans? Yes he can improve but Tate was a Heisman Trophy QB also between his Soph and Jr year. A QB has to be a leader and have good players around him to be good at this level. There is little proof he will have that next year. What JC has is no RB with experence, a line that looked like Barney Cotton coached it, and young recievers. Those are not a things in JC's favor to have a Rodgers like season. Wasnt Rodgers the QB during Fry's last run when they had a pile of talent and underacheived?

I bet Iowa wishes Bates was standing on their sideline last year.

We can compare JC and Meyer (two different styles of QB play), but not JC and Rogers (two similar style of play).

Makes sense ;).

I guess you're saying 7-6 is good? Don't forget -- four of his seven wins were against Syracuse (2-10), Minnesota (1-11), and Northern Illinois (twice).

Those are 2 different posts by 2 different people. Glad you could think of something good as a comeback though.
