Jake is a proven starter, just not a proven winner.

Indeed they are. However, I just find it slightly ironic that the "Typical Hawk response" in comparing JC and Rogers is laughable, but somehow a JC and Meyers comparison is valid.

It doesn't really matter. Just pointing out the slight irony.

I just hope we see improvement across the board.

Jake could be decent by the end of his career. Every time I expected him to stink it up, he did well. Every time I expected him to do well, he sucked. I am excited about our kids at QB, and wouldn't trade them for anyone.

Honestly I dont know enough about the 2 Iowa QBs to make fair comparisons. From what i do know I can tell you this. Both Meyers and JC had poor olines, they may not be the best leaders, they are not the fastest QBs, when given time they do throw a nice ball, they both were knocked on there behinds a lot, getting knocked around so much could have affected their play.

This I can agree with. Iowa will need a major oline improvement if they want better play from the running backs and QB

people are blowing this question off too early. it isn't a bad one. two totally unproven QB's who have hardly even played (Bates not really at all at that position) or a guy who has proven himself at a mediocre college QB. Hard to choose. Would I take JC and a 6-6 record at Iowa State? yeah, sure. We only won 3 games last year, that is a +3 improvement. But you also have Arnaud and Bates....1 of them could be worse than that, 1 could be better. They both have upsides and downsides, it is just too early to say. Do I think either or both of them combined could be better than JC? Yes, absolutely. Could they be less than average? of course. I guess we all will see. College football. Iowa State Cyclones. Man, I just can't wait for '08.

Does it scare you as an Iowa fan that 2 sr backs couldnt get anything done and now you are going to have guys that are unexperenced playing the RB spot? Meyer also lacked good RB play until last year and it wasnt anything to brag to much about then.

Not really. If the oline doesn't improve, I feel that KF will have to give up on Morgan (oline coach). With the guys coming back, and with the talent they're supposed to have, there would be no reason for poor oline play.

win or lose, i don't care. I'll never trade a cyclone for any other player on another team. These are our guys who chose to be here. I'll leave the guess work to the rest of you, but I'm happy with the 2 we got
