There is only one stat regaring JC that I really care about - Iowa set the record for most punts in a season last year. He didn't have time to make mistakes - Murrey was busy building up his quads.

If ISU's oline makes the improvement from last year to this year that it made during last season, either Bates or Arnaud will do very well. JC suffered behind very poor line play so we don't know anything about him either - except he had great flashes and horrible flashes. They're all unproven - one big game against sub par teams is proof of nothing.

We seriously need to quit worrying about iowa and concentrate on who (and only who) we have in our locker room.

I think Aurnaud and Bates are both going to struggle at times this year, I'm just hoping it isnt' at the same time. They will both likely get some snaps and struggle. They aren't going to come in and light it up from day one and we'll likely lose some games that we wouldn't have with a more 'proven' QB. But overall I would rather have Bates and Aurnaud for the future. Both of them are very talented and have great attitudes. JC just comes off as a ***** and I've heard many stories that he is indeed a *****. I think our future is bright and I wouldn't trade those two for Tim Tebow this year. I'm hoping for improvement this year but 2009 is going to be the make or break year.

JC is going into year 4 in the Iowa program and has started 13 games and counting. He's definitely proven. Just look at his w/l record, his completion %, his yards per attempt, his 3rd down conversion %, and his tops-in-the-NCAA sack totall. He's proven that he's the worst quarterback in the Big Ten and one of the very worst in the nation.

Honestly, the only player on Iowa's team last year that deserved an MVP award was Donahue. He had some terrible punts, but he got a lot of practice, and got much better.
