Has JC been great? No. But I also don't think he was the 87th worst QB in the nation. I mean, afterall, 2500 yards, 17/9 TD/INT, and a 7-6 overall record isn't terrible. It's not great, but it's not terrible. Especially considering the fact he's now just a Junior. apologies...I misread your point

I think JC has all the physical tools to get the job done. I think his problem is sitting right on top of his shoulders. Tate was kind of cocky and arrogant at times, but he just found a way to win. JC is cocky and arrogant as hell but he still seems immature. He thinks the QB spot is his and he has earned the starting spot for the next 2 years. He comes off as a spoiled brat and I don't think he ever wins more than 7-8 games in a season without changing his attitude.

Southern Hawk....Can you honestly say with a straight face that you would not trade JC for both Arnaud and Bates. KF would in a heartbeat as would any coach. Look at the upside potential.

Look at the upside potential. Considering KF didn't recruit either Bates or Arnaud, I don't think you can say he'd trade his starting QB for a pair of unknowns. I know you seem to think that both of these guys will be the next Heisman winners, but seriously, they've barely played.

I do think that both Iowa and ISU will be in better position when it comes to the quarterback situation this coming season. At least JC is being challenged now with Stanzi coming along. And I think Arnaud/Bates will be a much needed injection into the ISU offense.

I don't see much with potential at qb for iowa. McNutt should switch to safety. The guy throws ball 20 yards over receivers heads.

Or that Weinke kid they have coming in, or the other kid from Iowa? I think both teams have a good set of QB's for the fall, and frankly I don't really think QB play will be a real strength for either team.

Quite honestly I think it's too early to say whether I'd trade Arnaud or Bates for JC other than for personal biased reasons. Yes, JC hasn't shown he's capable of much of anything and there's really no indication he's going to much better this year considering the shape Iowa's offense is in, but it's not like Arnaud or Bates have had significant playing time in which to compare (yes, Arnaud does have some playing time, just not enough to get a really good read). Ask me again at the end of the season.

[quote=SouthernHawk;458940]Wait, what? When has he come off cocky and spoiled?
I've talked to many hawks that have run into him either on campus or at the rec and no one has held a very high opinion of him. A couple guys I know played a pickup game with him at the rec and said he was an ******* the entire time.
Everyone has heard the rumors of his dad threatening to yank him out of Iowa if they didn't get a better offensive line. I've seen plenty of hawk fans express the same sentiments so don't act like this is the first time you've ever heard someone say it.

That was the year Iowa signed Nelson and Stanzi both of who were recruited harder than Arnaud (who went to Ames HS).
And I wouldn't expect you to see much potential for QB at Iowa. Why would you? No offense, but your glasses are too darkly tinted cardinal and gold to really have much of an unbiased opinion on the Iowa QB situation.
The fact of the matter is, Stanzi, Weinke, and Vaderberg are all capable backups. Nelson isn't too shabby - but I would rather see Stanzi in infront of him.

I don't think there are too many of those out there that don't think highly of themselves.

The players have zero confidence in him. I don't know about his personality, but he doesn't exude confidence by his teammates.
