I haven't read this whole thread and don't really care to, but I would guess that Suckeye fans hate JP because last year they had to cut back to 3 cartons of GPC Menthols a week to pay for the ISU season ticket.

I think Hawk fans honestly dislike Pollard because he is trying to put Iowa State Athletics back on the map through: huge renovations, identity changes and great coaching hires in our major contributor sports. This being said, it is getting under their skin that we are starting to make alot of noise in the state, and little can be said for hawkeye sports as of late.

i love the people who think ISU is "better" then Iowa because of ONE year.

Who are the college football powerhouses? . I guess we could all agree, USC, Flordia, Notre Dame, ALabama, Michegan, Texas, OSU, Nebraska.

WHY, because of something called TRADITION. How did those teams get that tradition? by beating everyone for years on end. so again...why doesn't Iowa's tradition over ISU's count in this case? IT DOES AND ALWAYS will when it comes to ANYONE outside of Iowa. Bottom line, you go to any other state in the U.S. and say Iowa and if they are football fan, my guess is 9 times out 10 they will say "hawkeye's" over "cyclone" why....tradition. simple as that. we can debate until our eye's go blind about who is better the last couple of years, you guy's have our NUMBER (no, not 665 or 667) but you guy's beat us, good job. but until you beat us year in and year out and take over that overall record, writers around the U.S. look at the overall record.

What are you talking about?

Iowa State is "currently" beating Iowa year in and year out. Those other schools you mentioned are using that tradition to succeed while Iowa is using their "tradition" to lose. That's the difference.

Any writer that compares two programs today based on football games that happened decades ago isn't doing a good job. You look at the most recent matchups to compare two teams.

We're not saying out tradition is better than yours (please point out anyone who has) we're saying we're better than Iowa in sports at the moment (as we have clearly shown this past year).

Edit: Tradition doesn't win you football games btw, just ask Miami, ND, Minnesota (6 nat champs, 18 big ten champs), Nebraska, and UCLA.

Having lived on the east coast, the response I got was more likely to be "where?" rather than "hawkeye" OR "Cyclone". Neither school has much rep outside the midwest.

you made my point. These schools haven't done anything in the last 5-10 years, yet papers still write about them, they still wonder if they are "on the rise" WHY? because they all have that tradition. bottom line Iowa's OVERALL record is better then ISU's and until you can change that. every thing you bring up will not matter.
