Why do Iowa Fans Hate Jamie Pollard so much?

I don't get it. The guy has done nothing to them. THey call him Pollfraud. Which is probably the worst nickname I have ever seen someone called. It's just childish. It's not half as good as ALfraud which Steve Alford was a fraud. Jamie is not a fraud. Just thinks big.

I love the Fact that JP has gotten under there skin so much. I think when they see the artist renderings of the new stadium they will probably freak out.

It's because he has their number and they know it. Pukeye fans think ISU is little brother and should act that way.

They will cannibalize each other when Pollard is done with them......

They know he can make things happen. I don't remember any Hawks chiming in about Bruce. I think he was a Hawkeye plant, frankly.

Well, I can think of only 2 reasons why Hok fans constantly run him down:

1) They are afraid of what he can accomplish at ISU. For a long time, ISU knew it was second fiddle to Iowa in this state, and they just accepted their fate. Not anymore. Pollard is determined to pass those bumblebees and leave them in his dust. So far, so good.

2) They're jealous, plain and simple. They know they got the short end of the stick in Barta v. Pollard and they wish things were the other way around.

Any Hok fan who tells you different than 1 or 2 is full of it.

We have a guy that continues to bring optimsim and excitement to each of our programs. Rivals tend not to like that. They especially don't like it when it reminds them of the lack of optimism and excitement (and even institutional control) regarding their programs.

I think it is funny that every Hawkeye & Cyclone fan knows the name of our AD but not every Hawk / Cyclone knows theirs.

I think most of it has to do with last year's football season ticket deal, which they still complain about. JP started something that hopefully will have more and more fans coming every year, and they see us on the rise and do not like it.

I admit I visit their websites just to see what they say about certain things, and it's amazing to see all the ISU threads. We have our own iowa threads also, but we don't thump our chests and say we don't care about them, then have 3 page+ post about our possible stadium renovation or Todd Blythe not being drafted. They talk tough and say they could care less about ISU, but in reality it's the opposite way.

Some (not all) Hawk fans are just ignorant. A fraud is someone who promises but never delivers. Jamie can NEVER be called a fraud because he delivers in a big way. 2 years ago did any of us really think that we would be looking at the near future with so much optimizm. Did we think that we would see plans for the development of JTS into one of the finest football stadiums in the Big 12. Jamie has let us dream of greater things, knowing that they can come true. In fact we now expect them to. For that I say Thanks Jamie, Hope you stay at ISU for years.

It's the offseason and they are a rival. It goes both ways, and I have a lot of friends who are Hawk fans. As I get a bit older I find myself rooting for them and wanting to keep up with them just so I can talk with them about their interests as well. There's nothing wrong with talkin' Hawks and there is nothing wrong with the Hawks talking about us either.

I think this Pollard quote about the ISU/Iowa rivalry sums up why all Hawkeye fans can't stand him:

"We are using it as a vehicle to grow Cyclone athletics."
