Re: Freeman is officially gone from IA BB

Wow, I knew there was smoke around the issue, but I thought it would blow over.

I think he's a pretty good guy. I thought he would suck it up and take one for the team.

That's going to hurt an already thin team. Hawks, welcome to ISU basketball, circa 2007.

I honestly would trust the coach, but he may not have had a choice. It is strange, unless he was just quitting the team and is going to finish up his degree. To be that close and leave is odd. Maybe he will transfer to New Mexico ;).

I agree, it sounds like Freeman wasn't fond of playing Lickliter basketball. Dumb move on his part.

Mike Taylor was technically supposed to be that guy for us. His stats were actually better than Freeman's too.

Re: Freeman is officially gone from IA BB

There were many times last year that Freeman was the only one that could create a shot. Much like us and MT two years ago.

They are going to struggle worse than we did this year. They may beat Indiana, though. They have, like, 5 players.

Ouch that hurts. He seemed like he was 50% off their offense at times.

Kids just don't stick to commitments anymore. We've seen it on our side of the fence and they are too.

I will be rather impressed if the squawk fans can some how blame this on JP (see other popular thread of the day)

That thread was hilarious...

Re: Freeman is officially gone from IA BB

this is interesting...

our players left for:

The NBA (haha)
Because of the new or old coach. And Coach Mac didn't even get to have a practice with them...

Freeman spent a whole year under Lick ... rumored being asked to leave.. .then did

this is a little different set of apples... no?

It probably doesn't matter because I don't suppose we will ever hear much more about it, but something tells me there is a lot more to this story....

I'd say red and green apples.

ISU has had different forms of player turnover, but the end result is the same. Both teams need to hold on to their primary players in order to build their programs.

Iowa has lost one major contributor, but I suppose it could have been worse if he had a few more years left than he did. I guess now almost all of the players will have some good Lick experience.

It is awfully odd for a senior to walk away.

I must say, reading that board helps me appreciate what we've got going a lot more.

okay but we are the RED apples... y'all are the green and have worms...

there is more to this story from a senior who is walking or being talked away....

honestly, i expected 3 of the ISU defections when Wayne was fired... but I wouldn't have guessed even 1 from Iowa this year....

I really would like to know what the 'truth' is... sadly we will never know.

I like green apples. They're the best.

Anyways, I think (speculation) that Freeman probably didn't want to buy into the system. Plain and simple. He gave it a year under a new coach, but you could tell when he was in that things were going to happen the way he wanted them to, or they weren't going to happen.

Since we don't know, do we get to make it up?
