Sorry DJK.... I did get you confused with DJKhawk.... That was the reason I was critical..

Do apologize.

Re: David Barrent commits to Iowa

All I have to say about starting a thread about a rival getting a verbal commitment from a in state recruit is.....

I am a Cyclone fan.

If we land a huge recruit, the last thing I am going to do is go post it on EIU's message board.

If for some brain lapse, I do go and post it over there, it will be to rub it in their face and not just to inform them that another recruit is supposedly off the list.

Without the affects of smoking hooch laced with diesel fuel and carb cleaner, I could care less about my rival knowing we just got a recruit, I am over at my teams message board celebrating with our fans.

You have smoked the same hooch with enhancements if you think we are dumb enough to get us convinced you are posting this just to let us know.

Nice try though.......

And DJK15, I was probably the first one to call you the D-bag but was referring to DJKhawk and his whiny little tantrums about us on HR so I apologize to you as well.

Colorado coach Gary Barnett "I thought we had a pretty good mascot, but when we showed up at Iowa State, they had a real tornado. That's the real deal." November 12, 2005

I'll admit that I am don't like DJK from the Pollard thread and I probably shouldn't have jumped on him in this thread. I just don't understand how you can spend $30,000 on a school and not root for them.

As far as Barrent goes, go luck. If he wants to jump on the sinking ship, go ahead. Valley is still an ISU pipeline.

Some People see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say why not? When I took this job I said why not Iowa State? Why not winning? Why not bowl games? Why not sell outs? Why not national respect? Why not us? Why not here? Why not the cyclone family?

When I was applying for colleges, my criteria, in order, were:

1. Which one would give me the best scholarship package?

2. If I didn't get any scholarships, which one had the best program in my major?

3. Which sports team did I like better?

Luckily, at the last moment, ISU offered a great scholarship. Had I gone to Iowa, I would never have rooted for them, even if I had spent a bunch of money on the university.

Re: David Barrent commits to Iowa

Since a recruit was mentioned on a website every coach in the country will be going after this kid now. Remember, all recruits need to be kept hush hush or someone will be going after them.

We shouldn't be so hard on Barrent for picking Iowa. He probably wants to learn how to read good and do other things good too!

I don't get some of the ******** on this thread. Has anyone ever heard of "good sportsmanship"? And this is the "instate rivals" board, after all.

Good luck to Barrent. I would happily have taken him. We probably could have used him, but perhaps only as Trey Baysingers backup and eventual successor--which is a long time to wait. Can't blame him. We'll find someone else.

I'm the exact same way.

I love the school that is ISU. Athletics and education are two separate issues for me.

ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds.

Maybe this is why we get along so swimmingly.

By the way, who are the other 2 Valley linemen that keep getting brought up? Are they also seniors?

Not to get too warm and fuzzy here but I also love ISU. I try to get back to Ames as much as possible. However I was devastated on my last visit to find out that Es Tas moved from their hole in the wall to Club 8's old spot. It just wasn't the same...

Re: David Barrent commits to Iowa

I thought this kid wanted to do engineering? I guess maybe he saw his name with 4 stars and on the Rivals 100 (or close to it) and decided he didn't need to get the engineering degree afterall.

Too bad, I would have loved to have this guy. No matter how much anybody on this site tries to belittle it, this is a big win for Iowa. I just think we need another year or two before all of the big-time state of Iowa guys start choosing Iowa State. It will happen though.

I agree as previously stated, DON'T READ THE THREAD IF YOU DON'T WANT THE INFORMATION!!! Some of you guys are pretty ridiculous.

Wasn't this the kid who was interested in engineering? Must not have been as big of a priority as some made it out to be.
