Classic meeting with a Hawk fan...

So I was up at an Airshow, walking around the flight line (wearing an ISU shirt of course) when a guy walks by and says, "Hey, go Hawkeyes"

So I turn around and say "Go Cyclones", you know simple friendly exchange... well the guy was still walking but looking at me (so backwards at this point, since he noticed in passing), and before he can say anything else he walks right into somebody. It was pretty classic

Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!

Go Cyclones, in accordance with Prophecy

Cockeye fans are like roaches, except worse. Hopefully, unlike me, you were able to dismiss the harmless snide remark and enjoy the airshow.

That is actually pretty comical. I've had ISU fans say "Go Clones!" to me when I've been wearing Iowa stuff. Of course, they don't do anything cool like walk into a pole or person.

ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds.

The thing that chaps my butt is when Iowa State beats Iowa in either football and not basketball or vice versa (or if its a GREAT year its both) but in some cases its one of the other, and I tell my hawkeye friends who won the football game and they say "dude no one likes football anyways, its all about basketball!" and the following year we will win the basketball game and they say "dude no one likes basketball, its all about football!" Ok so maybe none of you guys have never had that happen but it happens to me ALOT and it makes me mad!!

The Pride of Iowa State...

There are far more Hawkeye fans that fall into this category than Cyclone fans. That opinion is based on observation alone, but I would bet a good amount of money that it is true.

bigger fanbase= more people that don't know what they are talking about

Southernhawk is there a special feature on CF where every time a comment is made relating to a hawk it alerts you? I have seriously never seen a thread or post that even mentions a hawk that you aren't on top of. Keep up the work of polluting these threads!!!

And as crummy as this one felt, Cyclone fans, it could be a lot worse. You could be a Hawkeye. - Sean Keeler (imagine that, actually quoting Keeler!)

Re: Classic meeting with a Hawk fan...

Yeah, I went to my niece's graduation at Carver yesterday. Just to much black & gold for me, but on the way home we made a visit to Tanger Outlet Mall, and I saw a guy that had a t-shirt on the read " This is a Hawkeye State", I told my wife that I wanted to remind him that last year it was a Cyclone State, but I just left it alone, and had a good laugh instead!

Yes. It's actually pretty fancy. It's called the "In-State Rivals Feature"

Pretty technologicaly advanced, I know. Mad props to the creators.

Psh, nooooooo..... I don't know what gave you that idea

Actually, since we're on the subject of annoying fans, I'll share one.

I was at the Iowa vs. Kent State a few years back, and we were sitting in front of this (drunk) guy, who I guess decided it was fun to be an announcer. Ever play, he'd go "Jonathan Bab.... Bab.... Babineaux!!!! Babineaux!!!!! Wooooo!!!!!! Babi Babi Babi!!!!!"

It didn't help that he was really fat and dropped peanut shells down my shirt on more than one occasion. I dunno, it was just a minor inconvenience.

ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds.

I had the Des Moines Register front page posted on my office door after we beat Iowa last year and somebody in the office wrote "Go Hauks", then later went back and corrected the spelling.

Re: Classic meeting with a Hawk fan...

I've never in my life said anything to a Hawk fan wearing Hawk garb. How come I've had numerous strangers tell me I have the wrong shirt when I wear an ISU shirt? Why the need to tell me that? Why when I'm pushing my groceries to my car do I have to be told what team to root for? I seriously would never consider saying that to anyone. Freaking insecurity.
