Q. After the recent situation involving a couple of your players, nobody has been arrested or anything, but there’s been discussion that you were aware of the situation before the?that the female came to you initially.

COACH FERENTZ: That’s not accurate. Came to me? No, that’s not accurate. Whose reports are those? I wasn’t aware of the situation before this week if that’s what you’re suggesting. I think it’s been handled very properly by everybody at the University, and we’ll continue to be very supportive of going through the process.

Q. So the student athletes’ status then as it is right now, just with the?
COACH FERENTZ: Really nothing has changed since we learned of the alleged incident

BUT THEN ON 1/08/08 THE FOLLOWING:
Q. Can you tell us when you found out about this alleged incident?
COACH FERENZ: I think that’s probably a matter of record, I’m guessing but I don’t know that…

Q. You had knowledge of the alleged incident on October 14th shortly after it happened, did you share that information with anyone else in the administration.
COACH FERENTZ: What would you think? What would you think?

Q. Did you?
COACH FERENTZ: The answer is yes.

This is the inconsistent info. I hear him saying he didn't know about it the week of the game at Purdue, then he says in January he did.

p.s. thanks to Hawkeyenation for the info!

I was a little worried when I first read this but felt better after I seen it was posted at 4:01. If it had been posted before that there is a good chance there might have been some dead air on KXNO that would have been hard to explain except for us "in the know" Cyclonefanatics. Great detective work and rep for you.

I would seriously like to know what he said that is so contradictory. I don't remember hearing him give out any information, and if he did say something, I'm 99.9999% certain that any slight changes in story were due to confusion.

Honestly, the conspiracy theories that KF and Barta tried to hide something really hold no water.
Come on fellas let's give Ferentz a little slack here. After all, how many of us could keep track of the time line for 16 arrests in a matter of 14 months?

You're right. Iowa's had more arrests than the cardiac wing of a hospital that only serves McDonald's food.

Good point. Aren't you missing some arrests, plus these two coming?

From what little is in the areticle, it sounds at least as though they went about things carefully. We haven't had the accuser dragged through the mud, we haven't had the players dragged through the mud yet, and the system can work its' course. My guess would be that they put their case together well, and then went after the players in the official manner.

Wait, what exactly does this prove? I fail to see how any conspiracy can be built out of these interviews. The fact is, he suspended the players before the Purdue game, and he informed the University administration.

1+1=?

Come on, you gotta be able to get this.

Definitley pretty easy to deduct-

It appears as though coach knew more about this then he is letting on. His statements appear to be a bit contradictory, is that not in plain site to you?

That he wasn't giving out any information to the media?

He suspended the players and talked to the administration. Where is the conspiracy here?

Here's what I get. He suspended the players before the game - meaning he knew something was up. I guess KF must have been psychic or something. I mean, he suspended these players nearly a month before he "knew" what was up, according to the media.

I guess his actions mean more to me does.

What in the heck does that mean? Maybe if you put it in Wingdings I could understand it better. Or just speak dog...

Honestly, I know people are trying to come up with a conspiracy based on the fact that KF wasn't straight with the media, but give me a break, this is stretching it extremely far.
