Re: Hawkeye arrogance starts young...

I know my brother didn't want to wear to his ISU gear when he was in grade school because of kids making fun of him on the bus and such. I never had this problem when I was in grade school though.

If I didn't know better, I'd say you were a hard-core Iowa fan...

both do yes...But I most certain it is lopsided.

I dunno about certainly lopsided. I guess it depends on where you are. Iowa has more fans, therefore more douchey fans.

The closer you get to Ames though, the less friendly ISU fans are to Hawkeye gear.

ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds.

If you don't know about "lopsided" then you aren't paying attention. The reasons ISU fans are less friendly toward Hawkeye gear, is because Hawkeye fans have earned it.

There was a time, you know when it wasn't so polarized....

When Iowa State was a College and when Iowa was the State university?

AMEN! I'm glad I'm not the only one who questions why you'd have to apologize to Jon Miller for saying that. I know I'm going to take flak for this, but I don't understand why there are so many members of Jon's fan club on here, always talking about how he is respectful and says insightful things and what not.....He takes jabs at ISU every chance he gets. Even yesterday (or the day before) when talking about the football player arrests on his show he manages somehow to tie that story to ISU fans. Talk about brainwashed and ridiculous... He comes on here to fuel his fire. He mostly plays nice on this site, but he is an EIU man through and through and loves making fun of ISU. He need not have feelings spared.

It's too bad your daughter gets ridiculed, but they're kids - they tease. They probably do it because they know it gets under your girl's skin. Little boys can be punks like that.
Why do so many hawks minimize and justify inappropriate behavior? The same thing seems to happen when players are arrested, they claim it is not a big deal.

Of course that was when the Big Ten was doing well. As time goes on, the SEC, Big East, PAC Ten, and Big Twelve will become more redcognized as equal. How many big Indiana football wins are relevant now days?

I always make it a point to stop in Iowa City if I have to travel to Illinios for work. I always pull up wearing an ISU hat and jacket or shirt. I'll buy gas, I'll stop in town to get food. Trust me.... If it wasn't in the middle of the day I'd probably be killed by some of the idoits you run into.

I have never seen my brothers, who are hawk fans go through Ames and get harrassed as much as I do in Iowa City. Just try wearing cardinal and gold in IC. I would dare SH, DJK, John Miller, or anyother person here.

Yes I know... I don't want to wear that in IC. I dont' have a shirt of that color. I'll personally give you all one out of my collection, and let you conduct this experiment.

Shawn Terrill tried this a couple years ago for channel 13, and again last year. He said by far Iowa fans were the worst. Oh.... And he is an Iowa Graduate of 2001. And probably one of the biggest Iowa fans I know in person.

I know I know... How about Indiana's win in Kinnick Stadium this year in which the fans booed the Hawks when going into halftime and when they came back out??? That was a fun day. Good food, free tickets, plenty of beer, idoit fans.... Can't be better.... Oh wait... I'd still take any game of ISU

Re: Hawkeye arrogance starts young...

What was it like for the two groups back in the fifties? Was it the same approach? Seems like the Iowa hotrod began about 1960 after the Rose Bowl, which is not as relevant now days. And yes, football relevance ruled basketball even back then.

Iowa has been on the national stage and Ames has not can explain a lot of their intolerance. Just look at the K-Y fan when he came over to discuss relevancy.
