I think his problem is that he is trying to make Iowa play the ''Butler Way'' as he so frequently and openly calls it. He needs to remember that he doesn't coach there anymore.

I wonder if this includes the basketball practice facility. IMO, that is needed a lot more than the upgrades to CHA. I'm pretty sure Iowa is the only team in the Big Ten without a BB practice facility.

The DMRag article called it a "practice gym". But you'd think that they would build more than a gym. ISU's plans had a full size court for MBB with two courts going the opposite direction (see link). WBB had the same and then there are three VB courts. Barta had no blueprints, so this would be a situation where he would hire an architect, raise money, then go back to the regents and get approval to start. I'd look for it to be open by the time practice starts in 2009. Hopefully, ISU has theirs done by that time as well.

The practice facility will include courts for volleyball, wrestling, and M/WBB, and will be constructed right onto Carver.

With $47 million mainly going to a practice facility (and some to the premium seats), I'd expect it to be more than sufficient. And since the total price actually grew from in the $20 million range, I'm assuming they have a pretty good general idea of what it is they want to do - just not an exact blueprint.

ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds.

Between the Carver additions and the new swimming facility...it makes me worried about how long we might have to wait for a new football practice facility.

Yeah, with all of our ambitions plans I wonder when we'll get around to building ours as well.

Oh, wait... we actually have something that Iowa doesn't have!!!

One of the few things the previous administration (most notably BVDV w/ much nagging from McCarney) actually did right during their time here...

Friley-Godfrey (-66|126)
Helser-Woodrow (-61|122)

Most of the $47 million will go to remove seats, as they clearly only taking up space that could be used for criminal records storage in Carver.

What do Cyclone fans and Hawkeye fans have in common?
Neither one ever attended the University of Iowa.

There's a couple hanging in Hilton right now....

Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

I heard from inside source that a lot of that 47 million was going into designers to create up to 5,000 real life manicans to put in the seats so when they are put on the Big 10 network it actually looks like there are a lot of fans at the game but there really aren't. Just a rumor I heard

Remind me - what are Iowa's basketball championships since 1997 again?

Is this Carver - Hawkeye Arena related to George Washington Carver family?

Looks like the $47M expansion means they expect their team to be much better in the future.
