Beware of the BLACKOUT!!!

I don't remember seeing this posted anywhere, but I saw an ad for Hawkeye football in the Rag today, and they had the Iowa/ISU game as the "blackout" game.
Hopefully for Iowa's sake its a night game, that way when the fans leave before the 4th quarter, it'll still look like the stands are full.

Re: Beware of the BLACKOUT!!!

That should probably be a pretty cool scene if the Hawk fans manage to pull it off, should be able to easily identify the Hawk fans and the Cyclone fans.

Especially after said fourth quarter.

??? Iowa didn't play Ohio State last year. That's how they were able to amass six wins.

When they played Ohio State it was a gold out if I'm not mistaken? (2 years ago)

Yes, I think you are right and I remember a lot of the infamous EIU fans wearing their gold shirts with Pasadena xxx miles away like they were destined for the Rose Bowl. That was on gold mine that done went busted.....

Colorado coach Gary Barnett "I thought we had a pretty good mascot, but when we showed up at Iowa State, they had a real tornado. That's the real deal." November 12, 2005

Regardless, I think it'll be fun. And it's worked against NIU and Illinois (the last two black out opponents), and the Michigan game went into 2OT. The gold rushes have been Syracuse and #1 Ohio State. Iowa is 3-2 in ____ out games.

ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds.

I think you can count the Illinois game since Illinois was actually respectable last year, but I don't think NIU and Syracuse count . . .

Sorry... I obviously dont follow the Hawks as much as some others here.I got confused with the night game at Wisconsin last year for some reason. Iowa plays so few night games, they all blurrr together.

Remember, this game is not important to Iowa and its fans.

Re: Beware of the BLACKOUT!!!

Nebraska tried doing this to us in 05, however only the student section pulled it off. Iowa seems to advertise theirs better thus are more successful. None the less it will be cool to see, also will be cool to see all of the cardinal littering the black, especially on the 50

Remember, the Syracuse game was a Gold Rush game, so I don't think that Iowa does this against only the super-significant opponents.

Of course, with ISU being a rival, it will be fun.

ISU Student - Iowa fan. Best of both worlds.

I remember that day. I went to the isu vs uni game. Uni missed a game winning fieldgoal. And their kicker was crying on the field. Then I got back home and the hawkeyes getting destroyed by Ohio state. That was a good day. An Isu win and an Iowa loss
