I will say I think this sounds worse than the Pierce incident, and I know why the department kept this on the down low for so long.

downright vile reading.

I'd say if she got that drunk that fast it's more likely someone slipped something in her drink without her knowing about it, and if that's the case (and this is pure speculation) it makes it even that much more disgusting.

No.

It's college. People get drunk. There are all sorts of laws protecting intoxicated individuals from stuff like this.
I'm not implying anything other than maybe she needed to take a little more responsilibity for her own actions. I would assume this girl is underage, and while I don't condone underage drinking, yes, it happens, but maybe instead of drinking to get hammered and pass out, take some responsibility and don't put yourself in that situation. Yes, the guys are morons and screwed up bigger than life, but it's not like she was completely innocent in all this. She put herself in a bad situation, and those morons made it her worst nightmare.

Unfortunately, in today's college football landscape you would be fired by year three.

Completely out of line

This girl did absolutely nothing wrong. The only thing I might say is I wish she would have had a friend with her when she was out and about but there is nothing that she did to put her remotely at fault in this situation

"I just back into town and I hear all this stuff, and Buster Olney is making my team up now and [Genske] wants to tell me who is going to pitch here. No one is going to tell us who to put on our team and no one on ESPN is going to tell us who should pitch for my team. " -Gardy

Wow, that is a nasty situation. Not good press at all for UI. I'd be willing to bet that things like this happen more than anyone knows, though...at a lot of universities.

Totally off topic, but does anyone find it amusing that the UI spokesman's name is Parrott?

Do or do not, there is no try .....Yoda

I'm not going to say she deserved what she got in any way. BUT, she should have known better than to get wasted with a couple of hoodlums. Not a surprise that they couldn't hold back from doing it.

Girls should always go out with a friend. And they should watch their drinks just in case some a-hole decides to drop a roofie in.

There are countless times in my life "where I should have known better" -and if you are honest you would say the same. Does that mean you should have been raped by two football players everytime you did something that you "should have known better".

Come on man. Let's let the hangover serve as her lesson not rape.

Umm.. I think she went out without those two, and met them when she got back to the dorms. I don't understand how people are saying "she should have known better," or "maybe she'll learn something from what she did wrong."

This is how I read it as well

Re: Everson/Satterfield court documents released

Undoubtedly the victim made some poor decisions. That isn't debatable.

To use the defense of, "Not a surprise that they couldn't hold back from doing it", makes me literally sick to my stomach. I'm sorry but that is absolutely pathetic.

I understand you saying this, and I don't take offense. But lots of people drink too much, but only thugs would take advantage of this situation. For the girl, the trama will haunt her the rest of her life. Many rape victims have a tough time ever having a meaningful and trusting relationship with a man. They become afraid of healthy sex, and end up afraid to ever trust a man again. For the girl, it's a nightmare that never ends...

I think they're implying her judgement of character was less than perfect. In no way was it her fault, but if you have a daughter would you want her to ever be alone with (or even near) Iowa football players?

Iowa Hawkeye All-Stars, 2007-2008: Ryan Bain, Ricky Stanzi, Dana Brown, Tyler Gerstandt, Arvell Nelson, Bradley Fletcher, Dana Brown (x2), Ben Evans, Arvell Nelson (x2), Dominique Douglas, Anthony Bowman, Clint Huntrods, Lance Tillison, Dana Brown (x3), Dominique Douglas (x2), Brandon Myers, Ryan Donahue, Arvell Nelson (x3), James Cleveland, Cody Hundertmark, Cedric Everson, Abe Satterfield, Riley Reiff welcome to the club, who will be next???
