It's starting already

Iowa fans saying there is no way ISU can win the Iowa-ISU game. Dont these fans learn? What is it 7 of 10 in ISU's favor? I know all of ISU wins are flukes, Iowa is always the better team, they play in a better conference, it is ISU super bowl, it is ISU bowl game, the game doesnt matter to Iowa, Iowa is more worried about winning Big 123545 titles, Iowa's real rivals are Ohio St and Mich, and ISU gets up more for the game than Iowa.

Reasons I have heard Iowa will win.
1. It could be a night game. Why does this matter? ISU will a already have a night game under their belt coming in
2. It could be on the BTN. So how does that help Iowa?
3. It at Kickmeinthegroin Stadium and it is hard for visitors to win there. Yes I know the powerhouse teams of some directional Mich school have won there as well as Nothwestern recently won there but playing at home with worth 50pts to Iowa I guess.
4. Iowa's D will be ready for ISU O. Really how well has Iowa faired against schools that have more than 2 WRs on the field at once, maybe they forget who was covering Bates last year (yes I know that was a fluke catch).
5. ISU will have young QBs and it is their first road test. True but if the QB is ready, the line blocks, and everyone does there job that will take a lot of pressure off him.

I'm not saying ISU will win but its not a sure win for Iowa.

And Jon, Iowa 9-3 comeon are you serious. This is the same team that went 6-6? last year playing a similar schedule. Your ISU segment today was in very poor taste, Very poor taste.

Sorry had to get that off my chest. I hate Iowa threads but I do need a place to vent.

I'm not an expert on sports, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night

Ironically I heard essentially the SAME EXACT thing last year from an EIU fan friend of mine. 9-3 was his prediction and there was of course no way ISU was going to win the in-state rivalry.

Delusional and repetitive....

The more they think that, the more fun it is when they lose. It is annoying though. I don't think the actual UI players will be this cocky, however.

They don't know enough to pay for DVDs and you think they know enough not to be cocky?

The 7/10 argument is lame. The recent 6 years are 3-3, which is far more relevant to this year's game.

That being said, Iowa fans should be confident, just like ISU fans should be confident. Both teams played a dead even game last year, and this year both teams should be much improved.

Yes, Iowa fans are confident. They should be. But on the same token, so should ISU fans.

Yes, yes, most people I know go by hexades rather than decades.

Well yes, I give you credit for picking a much much more relevant number like the past 6 years instead of 10. Yes, that makes sense. Better than the past 25 years most hawk fans try to drudge up.

Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

15-13. Dead even must have a different meaning from what I remember.

The only thing going for Iowa this year is home field advantage. Yes, it's where directional Michigan and Northwestern beat them, but you're kidding yourselves if you don't think that place will be a zoo versus an in-state rival... compared to a small non-conference game at the end of the year.

Deep within the heart of Iowa, a storm is brewing...
... the winds of change ripple throughout the vast fields of corn surrounding the small college town of Ames.

The Gene Chizik era of football continues, and, with it, a renewed attitude of pride, determination, and success.

This is Cyclone Football.

I usually use the last 5, since some players have been around for 5 of the games, but since Iowa leads that 3-2, and that isn't indicative of how even the series has been, I chose the last 6 years. Anything past that is irrelevant to this year's game.

Using the last 10 years is just as weak as Iowa fans using the last 25 years.

QFT. WFT does the last six have over the last ten.

IMO, the last year is the most important... because of our new coach.. I like to grade rivalries based on coaching... what the coaches record was against an opponent.

so WTF/H does the last 6 mean more than the last ten? or the last 200? seriously....

Dude, get real. ISU won, we know this. The game was very evenly played throughout. Saying a game was even doesn't mean the game ended in a tie. It means play it 10 times, each team wins 5 games.

Being that the game means nothing and the Squawks really shouldn't even being playing us I am not sure why the place would be full???

My favorite EIU fan quote ever: "Iowa State thinks they are better just because they won the game."

In football, a hexade is more relevant than a decade. A diade (really?) is more relevant than a hexade. Regardless, each team typically wins at home.

Man I wish they would of played 10 times last year. Unfortunately just one. ISU 1 ui 0. (didn't even have to score a touchdown)
