With Iowa State taking the "I" position in our new logo, I predict you will see Iowa begin to use their I again to counter the move. The new Iowa State logo is brilliant with a in the middle of the I, the abbreviation for Iowa. I'm in Colorado on vacation this week, wearing my new logo apparell, and many people have commented,"you're from Iowa State." With the swirly bird logo, most did not have a clue. Its a great move. Anyone else hear comments?

I really don't see them doing that.... Most of their hats had just an "I" even before we changed, but I couldn't imagine them changing things... Especially since the tiger hawk logo is one of the top 10 most recognizable logos in sports...
I think the I State logo is easier to recognize too...

Yes, in the Midwest. My dad and best friend, as much as they hate to admit it, both routinely get asked what "that thing" is when wearing the tigerhawk outside the Midwest. The whole east coast and most of the Pac-10 area have no idea what school the tigerhawk represents. Some Arizona State fans know what it is because they wrestle against Iowa.
I can honestly think of dozens of sports logos that are more recognizable than the tigerhawk. No offense to them, it's a fine logo, but it's not the Texas longhorn, or the USC trojan, or even the Kansas jayhawk. It's certainly not the Cubs' "C" or the Packers' "G" or Dallas' star. There's six right there, and I only used two professional sports. The tigerhawk might be in the top 250, maybe. But then again, I wouldn't count on it.

I'm too lazy to look it up... But I thought I heard on sound off and somewhere else that ESPN made a list of COLLEGE teams and the Tiger Hawk was in the top ten for colleges...
Along with the Michigan M... The ND for Notre Dame. The Long Horn. The N for kNu. The Miami U... After these I can't remember what else they had on it...
Forgot... Jayhawk was in there....
Like I said... This is College logos and thats all I was talking about... Not all sports...

Most college sports fans are familiar with the Tiger Hawk logo. Even casual fans know about it. I think that the I-State can become like that in the future, especially since there are only a few I-States out there.

Iowa will not change to an I/start using the I more because of ISU's logo. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Iowa has a successful, recognizable logo and has for a long time. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Their logo is one of the most easily recognized, easy to print logos in the NCAA. When I see it I immediately think of Southern Miss:)

I remember that as well. I know Barta and others making decisions over there aren't the brightest, but if they ever got rid of the tigerhawk that would just prove how stupid they are.

There is one thing that I am afraid will happen. Our fellow Cyclone fans, whom have an obssesive hatred for Iowa, will see a black and gold "I" and think Iowa is copying Iowa State. Iowa has many hats/shirts with the just black and gold "I" on it for many years. So I ask of our fans with the obssesive hatred, please don't make yourself look foolish and try to call out Iowa for copying Iowa State when you see a black and gold "I".
