Here is an article about it...his high school coach mentions it about 1/2 to 3/4ths of the way through the article.

“Once in a career” guy « On Iowa

After reading this article, you have to be impressed with Brinson (as a human, not just as a player), and really hope that he succeeds at Iowa....Ferentz was very on Brinson last fall and in spring camp...hopefully that translates into games.

I'd agree with you if Ferentz weren't so high on Brinson last fall (and coming out of spring camp), and has already told Wegher to be ready to at least see action at KR...I anticipate Ferentz will now lean much heavier on Wegher at RB at well.

Thanks for the link. There's alot of great kids in college football but unless his last name is Tebow we only hear about the bad ones.

Nothing about it on the Gazette, and since they run circles around everyone else in the state when it comes to the Hawks, I would expect them to have it.

In other news, Jacody Coleman is transferring.

On Iowa

Better knock those expectations down to 11-1, NC runner-up. Seriously though...sucks for the kid, but at least he has a red-shirt to burn.

I wish Hampton the best of luck in his recovery. Like Cydkar said, you never wish this on anybody.

That sucks for him and Iowa. That's a serious blow considering he had almost 500 yards behind Green. It probably costs Iowa at least one game. Iowa will have almost zero experience, especially for that second game of the year.

Some People see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say why not? When I took this job I said why not Iowa State? Why not winning? Why not bowl games? Why not sell outs? Why not national respect? Why not us? Why not here? Why not the cyclone family?

Agreed. I cheer against the hawks in every sport and in every game they play. That being said I don't wish harm on their players. It sucks that this kid had to go down before the season even started. I couldn't imagine the feeling of looking forward to the season as much as he probably was and then to have that taken away. It sucks for him and the hawks.

If I missed it...I apologize up front.

How did it happen?

Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

On the channel 13 news, it was described as a non-contact injury. If it's legit, you probably won't hear anything until Monday.

The Hawks have some very capable back-ups, and a good O-line- should not miss much of a beat.
Just curious, but who are their very capable backups? Last I heard, they had Greene, Hampton and that's it, unless you're talking about some true freshmen. Greene left for the NFL and now Hampton is injured. That can't be good to rely on true freshmen to carry the load. I know they had another guy or two who were true freshmen last year, but they didn't prove they were capable backups that I'm aware of. Paki O'Meara is a joke.

Brinson is probably the starter, with O'Meara or Wegher behind him.

Also, the dude knocking the guy down in my sig is Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. It's fake, the guy fell on his own.
