How long until Gary Barta demands an apology for criticizing a student athlete?

Hawk fans were outraged about this over on HN, they wanted him to resign.

what's going to be funny is when he realizes he used a racially-charged case as his reasoning to hypothetically boot a player out of school. it has been rumored for awhile, and several reporters confirm but are waiting to write it until the case goes through, but allegedly the cabbie might have used a racial slur in Adrian's direction.
but ya...the kid gets arrested, let's take away his scholarship and send him packing so he can't learn from his mistakes without having to hit rock bottom before he does. it amazes me this guy is in office.

Really?!?!?!!?!? People are outraged over this how? Adrian Clayborn physically assaulted a taxi driver. He had to be restrained off of the victim by a friend. The penalty of assault can result up to a year in prison. He deserves all of the punishment that he receives. He should have been suspended after this incident but due to KF's lax punishment resulted in nothing of the sort.

What's even more funny than that is that Mr. Ford was once in Adrian's shoes, committing several crimes as a juvenile, yet the privilege of playing college football was never taken away from him as a result of his actions. Now he appears all holier-than-thou claiming that all athletes in Iowa ACCUSED of a crime should not be allowed to play. It's ridiculous. The Iowa Brown & Black Presidential Forum | | |

If I remember correctly, times have changed. We used to laugh about drunks clambering into their cars to drive home . . .now we prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. Saint Kirk winks at a player assaulting a cab driver . . maybe he should realize times have changed.
More to the point, why do you want to excuse his criminal activity? I know of a lot of twenty year olds who are quite athletic who don't go around attacking people.

How was that a slanderous attack???
And I don't advocate in any way shape or form excusing anyone of criminal activity. But I am in favor of EVERYONE getting the due process that is guaranteed to them under the constitution of this fine country, even if they happen to play on a football team I am not a fan of.

You gotta love Iowa fans, don't you? They are actually defending the actions of Clayborn in this matter. That's how backwards this country has become.
Calling someone a name gives them the full right to assault someone according to Hawkeye fans. And delaying the court date until AFTER the season is over is just fine also. Sends a great message to the young man.... "here at Iowa you can do whatever you want to and KF and the faithful Iowa fans will support you no matter what!"
They've turned what Clayborn did to a taxi driver into a full assault on the congressman saying it was wrong. Unbelievable.
Berryman got a year in jail for his assault... we'll see what Mr. Clayborn gets? Oh wait, that's right, Berryman also took a cell phone... that deserves a year in jail versus a one game suspension which Clayborn MIGHT get?
The big difference between Clayborn and Berryman though, is that Iowa supports Clayborn, where ISU left Berryman out to dry. Berryman got no help in his legal proceedings whatsoever. Maybe if Berryman was the MVP of an Orange Bowl he would have received better treatment?

It is sad how fans will justify a crime for the sake of winning a game.
I'm pretty sure the folks defending the University of Iowa and Adrian Clayborn would feel differently if they were the one that was assaulted.
