Serious Question: What has the University of Iowa ever done for farmers?
.... besides put that pandering sticker on their helmet?
I've been seeing this on t-shirts and car stickers now.

The way that I look at it is that they are cheering for Iowa State. We're the school that supports farming. If they are supporting farmers, then they are supporting Iowa State.

Sorry this thread is just stupid. Are you implying that farmers should root for ISU because we are an AG school? In that case I should be rooting for Iowa since I am in the humanaties. What did ISU do for my education? Nothing except slash the **** ouf of history and english.

This is a joke of a thread. Let's not let Iowa support an integral part of our state, true brilliance.

As previous threads on this same topic have noted, it's rather hypocritical to proclaim "America Needs Farmers", then continually deride the in-state university with the agricultural programs in place to churn out those new farmers ("Moo U", "Cow College", etc.).

I've been seeing this on t-shirts and car stickers now. If you are serious about this question, search for it- we have already discussed this stupid subject.

Actually I agree with "America needs farmers", but Iowa produces a lot of doctors and lawyers who are notorious for buying big corporate farms for the tax write offs and subsidies, so yes I can see some hypocricy there.

They aren't an ag school, don't claim to be, don't present yourself to be. The school (and the football team) isn't churning out farmers and isn't really doing anything significant to support them, but the average joe doesn't know this (especially outside the state, and especially in this state during the 80's and 90's was using tactics like this to gain 'fence' fans across the state). It's a ploy, and nothing more. It bothers me and a lot of Cyclone fans I know.

I would be surprised if there are very many people that are Hok fans solely because they have an ANF sticker the size of a quarter on their helmet.
